Utah Evos
If you're running stock wheels with snow tires in the winter... why not get good summer tires instead of all seasons? You can get pretty nice 255 summer tires for right around that same 175 price... That's assuming the F1s really are overrated like Ryan said. I haven't had a very decent set of tires for the street for a long time.... Long enough that the factory Dunlops feel great on the STi
And that's like the 2nd or 3rd thing RSD recommends changing for a better handling car. Silly Subaru, at least they're 245s instead of the old 225s, if they want to keep up with the Evos in tests though they need to put similar tires on the car.On the flip side they now have 12k miles on them and still look pretty damn decent. I think my Advans were shot by 10k miles or so
+1 And where and how much! I still need to go talk to Wheel Werks, someone on Nasioc mentioned they'd do the unmounting and remounting of the tires and storing the car during the process and everything. Take all the headache out of it.
Or you just need to talk to Chad and get those gold wheels for me!
All this talk about wheels makes me want to get some now, but I'll probably end up just getting some spray paint and changing it up this way. Except I kind of like my diamond black BBS wheels, too many damn chips and curb rash though.
Yea I could prob do that, late show right? I work till 9:30am- 6:30pm m-f with my hr lunch
Black on black is hot, but like I said, I just can't be without my car for the few days it takes to get the wheels PC'd. I'll talk to the few NASIOC guys that say that they can PC wheels and see how much it costs and if they can do it in a shorter amount of time... And also talk to Wheel Werks since I heard they can do it and probably can do the full job (take off tires, store car, etc etc).
I had them on a 314hp GTP and after about a month, they felt bald. I would spin them at a light on an incline even though I was trying NOT to. I had better luck with the Nexens (same as Wes) that I started buying after I got sick and tired of eating through a set of pirellis every 4-6 months.

Those Nexxens.... If they were better than the F1s then the F1s were ****. The N3000s last a long while, but they made me sad that they couldn't keep up with what the Porsche was capable of. Probably a lot like how these Dunlops feel, actually.
Every set of the Nexens I had maintained its grip throughout the life of the tire and they were dirt cheap. It made me not feel so bad about going through tires so quick.
But they are dirt cheap and last quite awhile.
I loved the grip that the Pirelli's (forget the model) offered, but I couldnt get them to last for ****. I was in a catch 22, if I went with a harder compound, I would get no traction at all and burn through them. And if I stayed with a softer compound, I had to replace them quite often, but I got traction. So I went with cheaper sticky tires.
I did love the Kuhmos (again forget the model) I had on the Evo....almost 20k miles that I know of on the tires themselves and they held up great and stuck to the road great. Tons of hard canyon runs mostly Old Snow Basin road which is technical as ****.
Now on a side note, my mom had and still has the first set of F1 that they bought for their GTP, but that is my mom driving a car that has significantly less HP/TQ. Just food for thought.....I wouldnt get them on an Evo.

Every set of Kumhos that I had I loved, including the V710s, and I had no problems with them lasting a decent bit of time. The V710s weren't to blame for not taking the heat at the track, they just aren't made for that kind of abuse, and they had plenty of grip, untill they peeled apart
MX, Supra, SPT, ASX, and whatever ones are on the gf's Mini right now (I think a run-flat version of the ASXs.) have all been wonderful tires.
