Haha, thanks for the tips Ryan! You're the best! +1 to educating yourself, got my dad out of an exhibition of speed ticket with physics (accelerating too fast was the citation, I proved he was doing 0-60 in 30 seconds... just happened to be in a noisy *** Honda, with a noisy *** Evo in front of it)

Even for speeding ... just don't "bend over." 5mph over is well within safety.

They can't charge you for more than the 5mph over. Take it to court, plead innocent (until PROVEN guilty), and fight it. Just be respectful, know your rights, and enjoy the time where you can suck hundreds of dollars out of court and only have to put a little back in if they kangaroo you, and still charge you for the ticket. Plus you learn a ton about representing yourself.
Good Luck,

Techinally, if I or another officer wanted to be a d**k, we could write a ticket for you speeding 1mph over the posted limit. You break the law, you break the law...black and white, but it's usually you actions and attitude that determine the outcome. Let's just say that the State of Utah says it is a $75 dollar fine. If the officer has done everything correctly and you do not have the proper research (like the physics, etc.) and the officer shows to court with you, it is likely you are going to be paying a whole lot more than the $75. I have seen this several times. I had someone I suspected of DUI (erratic driving) do a Cali stop in front of me. That gave me probable cause to pull him over. He was sober, so I was going to let him go with a verbal, but he was being a d**k (instant ticket), and almost had to spray him for being non-compliant. He decided to take me to court, because he "stopped". I brought the video from my car and my notes from the ticket and not only did he have to pay $300 for the original $75 fine, but the judge also made him pay for failure to obey a peace officer (forget the amount). Just saying that just because you dispute a traffic ticket, doesnt mean you will win, in fact, many times you will have to pay more than the ticket itself for "increased" court costs. Know what you are getting into before dive in.

If it weren't for the fact that I have the only key to get to my stock exhaust, I'd lend it to you, but we just found out we got extended. Get to miss the birth of the first son!!

Hey, I have a question for everyone in Utah...Is anyone else having trouble with the temperature adjust knob on their Evos? I'm looking at getting the retrofit TSB taken care of, but its dang expensive. Has anyone else had it done? Where did you go? How much did it cost? I've called all the Mitsubishi dealers in Utah and the cheepest was the Pocatello dealership. I'm going to flight school, and money gets tight....and I own an EVO...what was I thinking! LOL!

So true... So true, even the douche bag cops respect a little bit of respect (who doesn't?)

And that sucks dude, hardcore! I think giving birth should be a damn good reason to send you home, at least for a few weeks or something.

I'm sorry ... but you've thrown down the gauntlet relative to what I believe as "unreasonable" search. Remember we're talking about a speeding charge here. Granted I also believe that the problem starts at a level above your "officership" in enforcing "the law." Courts can be proven that they need "money" to survive and giving tickets is the ancillary "tax money" they need to keep things going. So welcome to being the ticket dispenser.

Car Concepts fixed it somehow, I dunno how they did it, definitely not the TSB it was before there was even a TSB on it. And it cost 2600 dollars (the amount I paid for my full stereo system haha)

Which is why going to court and saying "I'll pay you money, but don't put it on my record" works so well. Hell, if it meant avoiding getting pulled over for minor traffic violations, I'd donate 100 dollars a month to the "law," I'm sure a lot of people would. Especially if they'd let you prove you were a safe driver at those speeds, like, a speed driver certification.

Speaking of which, when're we starting our club Jason?

see the thing is I'm running the one patch already on my ecu for the valet mode/NLS and the cel knock light. That was a pain in the *** enough to get all my maps switched over and I don't know if those other tweaks/mods would work with the V5 patch. When they have the 96940011 rom I will look at switching over I just don't want to use the edm rom right now

So was it a big noticable difference to you vs mbc ?? I'd like to see how the ecu boost is controlled, just via boost limit or is something else implemented?

Speed driver certification....NICE! I support that!

I'll check with Car Concepts! Thanks for the recommendation!

Me too! Haha. Like a sticker that says "100+ certified"

Anyway, I don't know if they'll remember fixing it, it was 3, almost 4 years ago. They'll remember doing my car, and the two guys that did it are still there, but I don't know who fixed the HVAC control, I just went in complaining about it after they did the HU install. I'm surprised Mitsu wants to charge you for a TSB, I had one done on the Porsche a few weeks after I bought it for no charge, and 2 done on the Evo back in the day at no charge.
