Works ECU
It seems like pure vaporware to me. Why announce a product when it's clearly not ready? In my opinion, Works made a huge mistake announcing this product so far ahead of its release. It might be great, it might be the single must-have Evo product, but they're giving up a lot of credibility by teasing us like this. At least Vishnu has a product that I can buy today, from a company that is well regarded by many WRX owners and the automotive press to boot.
It is going to be sooooo easy to forget about all this *****ing/waiting,,,,, when we get a kickass reliable ecu from works.
I plan on waiting several months after release anyways ,,, just to see it there are any glitches/problems.
Take as long as you like....... Its the best way to achieve a great product.

Chris in HB: Those are some really impressive numbers from a reflash, intake, and downpipe. I would be very interested in seeing the Dyno Plots from Works and RMR put up against each other. In my opinion peak horsepower and torque numbers are way over rated. The whole powerband and "How you get there" is what really should count. People should be more concerned in getting more useable power than these peak numbers everyone keeps on raving about. A nice linear powerband where power can be picked up anywhere along that line would be ideal. I don't know many people that enjoy having to wait till 4K rpms for their power to hit. Just my opinion.
Wait...has NO ONE on the preorder list gotten there's yet? I was one of the later preorders, at least, that was what I was told when I gave them my credit card number two weeks ago, although I see that the preorder option is still on the webpage. Hmm.
Has anyone on the preorder list gotten reflashed yet?

this just in... works rally's reflashed ECU makes you LOSE power.... your torque curve totally drops after 2800 rpm, and you substantially lose horsepower after 3200 rpm, but it all comes back to stock after about 5000 rpm...
how's that? well, do to extensive "dyno" runs, the EVO at works rally just couldn't take it anymore... it went crazy! lol!
y'all know i'm just ****ing around now... anyhow, go ahead and wait for works to release numbers... but if you really want numbers... here's my buddy's set up:
MODs (performance only):
custom 3 in piping turbo-back, incl. straight thru cat
blitz boost controller @ 20psi
SAFC 2
costs - approx. $850
quartermile time: 12.75 @ 105 mph
stated claim of 340 whp... or so he says
why can't works just give us an estimate... stop beating behind the bushes!

Obsoleteasian you are a funny guy! Sick...but funny!
David@Works......any new info? Your thread has been overrun by talk of your competitions ECU re-flash service & things are basically sliding south fast(don't say it obsoleteasian...I know what you are thinking;-)
Just remember......
No feedback = concerned and confused potential buyers losing faith and considering alternatives.
Honest feedback of any sort = respect for communicating the truth good or bad!
I realize its a fine line in keeping people happy and yet still making sure you have your products aced before pushing them to the general public prematurely.
Fall on either side of the line and you can get your business into trouble quite easily. Please do let us know what the future holds for these products and the release dates!

Well... in this case, no news is good news.
We didn't blow-up a motor. We didn't run into any unexpected glitches. And we haven't been taking so much as a moment's break from our development program (which already dates all the way back to late last year).
The truth is things are going well, and we are on the verge of announcing some numbers and posting some dyno charts. If I have been absent from some of the board discussions, it is only because I have been roped into assisting with some of the dyno and road tuning to help get the Brain reflashes finished that much sooner. I can't really complain, because between posting on the board and being in the driver's seat of the EVO, I don't have it so bad.
I had really hoped that we would have been in a position to have our first batch of orders filled by now, but if I have to choose between making everyone on the board happy versus making sure that our engineers are convinced that that there is nothing left to evaluate or test any longer -- and this really amounts to be being between the proverbial rock and a hard place -- I have to side with letting the engineers do their thing.
This wait has been as agonizing for me as it has been for everyone who has been following the development of the WORKS reflash program. There is nothing I would like more than to get reflashed ECUs into the hands of enthusiasts.
That said, thanks to the additional product testing and evaluation that we have recently completed, we will be offering a full 3 year unlimited miles warranty on materials and workmanship on not only the Brain reflash, but for the entire line of WORKS products. This is, of course, unheard of in the industry -- but at the same time, reflects how strongly we stand behind our products and rigorous development program.
For now, I appreciate everyone's patience and just ask that everyone sit tight for just a little while longer ... the end is near and I assure you -- will absolutely have been worth the wait.
