We've read that link and we beg to differ:

As stated earlier:
We know there has been some discussion regarding the package versus the cams alone. Perhaps the most important reason for using the WORKS valvetrain kit is that the bottom of every OEM retainer compresses every valve stem seal with every revolution of the cam. Those two parts were never designed to make contact with each other.

In order to preserve your valve stem seals and prevent premature failure, a lower profile retainer like the WORKS Titanium one is required. These were designed with the WORKS 269 Power Cams and will accommodate 11.0mm+ lift cams for the 4G63. Pretty much all aftermarket (higher lift) cams for U.S. EVOs require this. It's not worth saving a few hundred bucks now to spend a few thousand bucks later if you plan on keeping your EVO.

Are the cosworth cams for the Evo 9 going to be the shorter or longer duration cosworth cam, think they are the M1 and M2 cams.

Thanks
Mike

The "272" degrees / 11mm specification from Cosworth's IX cams is more in line with the M2 offering for the VIII.

Greetings All,

EVO IX Cam installations will start on Monday. Testing to follow, in terms of our TR-340 package and the P2 flashes. We should have a few sets left after the week of October 27th. Data to follow...

Thanks for your patience everyone.

Sincerely,

The WORKS Team

We know many of you are as excited as we are but please remember that cams are one of the most critical components in your engine. To make tuning matters more complicated, Mitsubishi included variable timing with the MIVEC system.

That being said the ECU needs to be tuned for safety and to properly take advantage of the cams. Therefore, proper tuning is just as important as the hardware you are installing. We can't emphasize this enough.

Remember that all existing WORKS Brain Flash customers including P-series and T-series flashes get reflash updates when purchasing WORKS power products at no additional charge.
Since we value our long-term partnership with Cosworth, we will extend this invitation to offer the proper WORKS reflash update for their MIVEC cams at no cost as well.
This will allow EVO IX customers to complete their WORKS TR-340 package
