Evolution IX Cams - Available!
i think that if someone has finished with all the bolt ons on the IX and the last thing that remains is the cams, then getting another 20whp or even 30 (nobody knows yet), then the 1100 for the Cosworth cam-spings-retainers kit is not that bad of a deal...
if by next summer i finish bolting up all the usual stuff (TBE, pipes, intake etc etc) then i wouldn't mind trying the cams...
But really... Works guys... why don't you get a test car, either yours or a customers. sponsor the cams kit and dyno it before and after...???? i am sure your shop can affort such a test and i am 100% sure from the results you will sell so many kits that you will make the test cost plus much much more... i am sure that its not that hard... i trust Cosworth products and i sure that you trust them too... its all matter of a yes, an EVO IX 4-5 hours of testing and producing the results... JUST DO IT... !!!!

Also, Cosworth makes no mention of using new springs/retainers with these cams nor do they sell them with the kit. So why does Works insist on their $400 springs/retainers with these cams?.... especially if they haven't even received and tested them yet.

Well, Cosworth should have flow numbers for comparison's sake, but they don't usually release HP numbers or exact CAD figures as a matter of course. Proprietary information and such.
As far as WORKS selling the cams with the valvetrain kit, I'm sure they're doing that for safety's sake. After all, if you installed cams that showed more and more power potential with rising rpm's, you probably would have your rev limit raised to take advantage of that untapped potential. Hence the inclusion of the kit. I think I'm betting on the right horse. We'll see I guess.

I see what you're saying. I have to admit, I'd like to see the HP numbers too. Hopefully, there'll be some hard proof in a couple of weeks, and we'll all have the answers we need to make the right call.
Here's to you.
Here's to you.
Quite simple guys, lol. You make a kit like valve springs and retainers to complement such a setup as upgraded cams so how do you make it so that you sell more of them...well you pair a HOT item like the Evo IX cams with that very set of complementary items and watch them both fly off the shelves... hopefully. Ever take Business 101?
So how much is the theoretical total package? cams, remove head, put in valve springs and retainers etc... parts and labor. sounds like it would be steep. but then again, it might be money well spent if the gains are there.
The head does not need to be removed to install the springs and retainers. It takes about an hour and a half additional labor once the cams are out of the way. We're confirming pricing with Cosworth as we've been given conflicting information. Stay tuned!

Jamie,
Could you also confirm that we also need the spring retainer kit for sure?
Another vedor told me that I would not need to change my spring/retainers unless I raised my rev limit.
regards, Can
