do you have to reset the ecu after you get the reflash?

or let me rephrase that, would it be ok to reset it?

Ummmmmmmmm, You are sending your ECU to get reflashed, so not only is it reset as soon as you disconect it from the battery, it is reprogramed.

Question

Sorry I digged this old thread up, but I was wondering if the dealer can mess with the reflash through the OBDII port? Let say if they messed something up, will the ecu be flashed back to stock, or does the P2/P1 maps permanently written onto the ECU?

The maps could theoretically be overwritten if a service bulletin were to be issued by Mitsubishi Motors for the ECU. However, there have been no such bulletins to date and none are expected. In the event that this were to occur, WORKS would be more than happy to reflash the ECU free of charge.

But if you disconnect your battery for some reason you will still retain your p2 flash correct?

Yes - it's 'burned' in. Think about when they ship the ECU back to you; it's not plugged in then!

Yes. This is an example of ROM vs RAM.

RAM will only stay present so long as there is power.

ROM is read only (theoretically) meaning it is written and does not go away even when power is off. The only way that the P2 reflash will go away is if someone actually writes over the P2 flash, be it another reflash from another vendor or a Mitsu service tech.

Yes that is correct. It's like reflashing your bios on your pc or reflashing a firmware on a dvd-rom or cd-rom. It stays permanent until someone overwrites it with another reflash.
