Yes, the GFB will hold more boost than stock. The stock has a hard plastic "seal" that is prone to leaking.

We have seen definite problems with aftermarket intakes. Usually a BOV or DVV can make these problems worse. However that's not always the case. The GFB DVV is very tweak-able. With some people having problems, we've been able to tune them out. It's really a case-by-case thing.

We really recommend the stock intake setup. The aftermarket ones out right now simply don't make power with the stock turbo. Most of the time it's really not worth the trouble...

How loud (ie how audible while driving) is this bov on a stock car with stock intake?

The GFB can be as loud or as quiet as you want it to be since it is 16 way adjustable. So you can have it fully vent 100% OR have it fully recirc if you so desire.

Ok, sorry it took so long, but I finally made a GFB bov movie clip and unfortunately, this clip is not so hot. Nonetheless, it's the best you guys are going to get till I bust out my dv cam and put forth some real effort.

So, click here to watch my second rate amateur GFB bov movie clip. It's a mere 10 seconds of agony.

So, for us almost-stock junkies who don't give two craps about whooshing sounds, what's the benefit of this device, if any? Thanks!

Quoted from previous statements from Tyler @ WORKS:

A blow off valve is a safety device. No blowoff valve, set to whatever setting will make or free up any power. The "blowoff" is a pressure release that happens in a turbo-charged car when you lift off the throttle. The surge of pressure, if not vented or re-circulated could cause catastrophic turbo damage (think about the turbo getting hit by a pressure wave from the intake side, causing the turbo to quickly stop and even spin the wrong direction!)

We have seen definite problems with aftermarket intakes. Usually a BOV or DVV can make these problems worse. However that's not always the case. The GFB DVV is very tweak-able. With some people having problems, we've been able to tune them out. It's really a case-by-case thing.

Yep, safety and holding boost better, which could translate into better power if your stock BOV is leaking.
