baking your lights...

i searched but couldnt find much of anything...i know o2thag touched on the subject a little bit when he did his projectors but i wanted to know if anyone had a guide on exactly how to bake your front and rear lights...along with opening them to paint...

275 for 5 min they will come apart

you can also use a heat gun, then removing the bulbs and wiring isn't neccessary.

I don't think the taillights come apart by baking them. I'm sure I read somewhere that they have to be carefully cut open.

The recipe for the headlights I've always read was to put a pan of water in the oven, heat up to 250-275, then turn the oven off and insert headlights one at a time on a towel (so the plastic doesn't touch the metal rack), let sit for 10 minutes, remove and pull open.

Mys is correct, tail lights must be cut open and glued back together.

then how do you bake them im still a little confused...that helps because i want to paint the casing but i also want to bake them as well soo how would i go about that then? i know o2thag has done it but he hasnt seemed to answer my pm soo idk...but thanks for the link otter

wtf!? the taillights dont open by baking?

how the heck everybody paint them?

Whats the point of baking them if you have to cut the silicone anyway?! hmmm

I baked headlights in my old car ... I never used an oven, and replaced the silicone with new stuff. They Never leaked, never fogged up, never faded, and they looked great I used a similar process to the link Otter posted. http://www.ozecho.com/diy/bakedlights/
