Boost and Part Recommendations
also for guys who doesn't have a lot of money you can use an FMU instead of a piggy back or a full ECU, i have an fmu on mine and i haven't touch the cars ECU, the FMU works base on a vacuum line, as soon as it feels boost it sends more gas to the engine...if you are planning to do a turbo you will need a 1 to 1 fuell regulator and the FMU wich comes in a variety 12:1, 10:1, 8:1 and so on. there are some regulators like the one i have that are 1:1 and 12:1 at the same time but they are REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to find. it was a headache. The thing is that these regulators are OLD SCHOOL so many manufacturers doesn't want to build them anymore.
manolo2011 you'll have to come see me if I end up going to PR tuning. The FMU is going to suffer the same fuel trim problems as the piggybacks. Companies have stopped making them because those things are quite inconsistent and few people use them anymore.

hey guys
so im new to the whole turbo setup on our cars and just had a few questions. i'm planning on getting the rrm kit which i know is tuned for 7-8psi. once i buy the kit i was planning on upping the boost.
my question is what is the most boost our car can handle on stock internals?
also if i put in arp head/main studs, eagle rods, and a higher compression piston then what boost level would i be able to attain without completely destroying the car or blowing my crankshaft to pieces?
if anyone knows where i could get best prices on those parts that would be awesome as well.

The crank seems to be pretty darn strong and after all the building to make it stronger i would say at least 15lbs of boost will be fine the valves and springs will need to be beefed up but other wise its pretty strong.
As for the tranny goes i dont think anyone has really pushed it hard to say, shred gears or do massive damage other than the clutch crapping out.
To sum it all up unless you feel like spending alot more or going past that part i would say jsut build it to be good around 12psi thats a nice spot thats safe for everyday with it built right. hope that helps ask anymore questions if you want.
