I just did... That's a friggin good idea and find. Ive thought of doing something like that, but with an Evo mani and a 4g69 flange....may have to get someone to measure the piping and whatnot first. Might be a little easier than getting a honduh mani and bending it into position if the Evo mani positioning is the same

might as well make this clear here and now...brand new genuine Evo III 16g's are $600, used as low as $300 in good condition...the knock off of course being the Evo III GT, which is what RRM uses for their kit, these are less than $400 new in box...exhaust is relatively simple...the hardest part as i just mentioned yesterday is the intercooler and piping, everything else is a piece of cake, the manifold is a bit tricky, but it's nothing to stress over...it ain't rocket science.

Got some M8 x 120mm bolts from Fastenal, and today i removed the bumper to mount the intercooler...Previously i had drilled the holes for it, and today got around to mounting it, as i was waiting on the hardware which i had to order...i used the bolts, and some metal tube as spacers...this is how i mounted it...

Here is how it looks up front:

Also, what we got done was marking and measuring everything for the intercooler piping. I need to pick up some aluminum MIG wire so i can tack it all together for fitment, and then take it for welding once it's perfect...i want to have as few couplers as possible. Also, it's nearly impossible to run a front mount intercooler while retaining the stock fog light housings...i'm thinking i may be able to keep the fogs, but i'll have to make custom "shrouds" for them, and the stock ones just don't fit, unless you brought the pipe down and underneath the radiator...We'll see how it goes in the coming weeks...here's the front mount "interfooler" capped off with gun tape for now, with the bumper reinstalled...I will be relocating my license plate to open up the bumper a bit...

It should be done by spring, and then i'll be heading to Ottawa for a tune...I figure i'll update the cost again...

14b turbo - 50$
14b J-pipe - f ree
WasteGate Actuator - $80
TD05 O2 housing - free (might fit)
Custom manifold - 110$
2004 Subaru WRX 440cc injectors - 60$
2004 WRX Fuel pump - free with injectors
AEM UEGO wideband w/ sensor - 80$
1g DSM Blow-off valve - 30$
24x6x2.5 Front Mount Intercooler - $75
Intercooler piping and silicone couplers - $140
Oil Feed fitting/Line - 20$/free
Oil Return - Free
Water feed lines w/ banjo fittings - free
3 BAR MAP sensor - 110$
Boost Gauge $40
Oil Pressure Gauge w/ Sender $50
Gauge Pod $60

Total: $905.00

Still need:
Downpipe steel and fabrication
Charge pipe welding
Tuning

I should be able to keep the cost of parts very close to $1,000...tuning will probably be at least another $500...so, $1,500 was my goal, if i can keep it below $2000 i'll be very happy with my project. Now keep in mind this used 14b turbo setup is just a "can it be done" build...I WILL in the future be switching to an Evo III big 16g, full turbo back exhaust and 550cc injectors...possible even a nicer BOV, and external wastegate...so i'll most likely hit the $2,500 mark. so i'll hopefully be saving around $1,500 or more by doing all the fabrication myself...

Dont be sneaking up to Ottawa either, make your intended arrival well known.

i'll be going as soon as i get my income tax refund!

Beware! custom turbo charging your daily driver sucks! weekend fitments, no time, every damn time i get it apart it has to go back together right away, and this bites into actual working time, just taking it apart and putting it back together every time i need to do something...

for sure we'll take pictures...we'll be having another Ontario next summer as well, i think Brent (OttRalliart05) said he would host the BBQ this time, so i'll call him on that when the weather is nice...

The BBQ at my place was short lived cause everyone showed up late, Brent showed up on time...and Nick (RalliartN) brought beer...

Everything seems to be working pretty good all in all. I wish I was near Ottawa, looking like about 2700mi one way LOL. Roadtrip? Dawn that's far! Would love to see everyone's Ralliarts though. Maybe if I bring food to eat and I sleep in my car it will help with costs . Looking like 700$ about in gas alone, averaging 30 mpg. I think the hackish/brent kit needs to come out first maybe shed on some driving time est.2days with traffic constant driving. Blah!
