That is a knock-off Evo III big 16g, otherwise known as the Evo 3 GT, or another knock-off variant...the most dead give away is the adjustable actuator arm...if it IS an Evo 3 GT though, that's what RRM uses for their kit, and appearently it's somewhat reliable...it's cheap and it's basically identical to the real one.

I would be worried if it wasn't an Evo 3 GT or the real MHI Evo III....lol, at least the Evo 3 GT has been used on RRM kits, and some DSM guys i know have run it with success...

I read a bunch of fourms for dsm guys that there were a bunch of guys running this exact turbo. the reason I went with it is there were 4 or 5 guys that got this turbo from the same seller (etd motors) on ebay and it worked out amazing for them.

hoping to reproduce their results :fingers crossed:

I had to go with a different manifold too now since the first one had the huge twin scroll turbo flange. so I'm still waiting on that. The 4g69 flange should be here in the next few days and the manifold not long after. Now i just need to figure out where i am going to feed coolant and oil from. :X

at least I have something to do in the mean time I bought the gsx calipers and pads and am going to swap em out. I've had the brackets sitting around for like a year and one caliper for a while. just finally getting around to finishing it lol.

I know I saw you (cranswick) were talking about it on the other thread, did you do the swap or were you just checking it out? wondering because I wanted to make sure there was someone who did it that i could troubleshoot with if something goes wrong.

i'm doing it soon, and OttRalliart05 is also doing it...stay tuned...

oil feed is easy...oil filter adapter or block adapter...and like a -3 steel braided line...

Gonna feed/return my turbo from heater core. But also thinking about where upper hose connects to motor getting a fitting tig welded on the bottom of that piece. Using T's at heater cire would be easiet though IMO

So I got the flange today..

What happened was that they forgot to put my house number on the address and my normal mail man was sick or something so it was a new person. My regular guy was back today so he dropped it off for me. but it turns out that Columbia River Mandrel (the company i bought it from) had the template labled wrong so the one I got was for what looks to be a 4g63, but either way it was wrong. So they're remaking it and sending it out again. Hope it works better this time around lol.

on a side note. I ordered the ACT HDSS clutch kit the other day and that just came in. I'm thinking I might try and put it in on sunday. but I'm going to keep reading around and see if it's something I can do by myself in one day. from what the instructions that I saw on another forum it looks pretty straight forward, but I thought that about everything else and nothing has been as easy as they seemed.

another side note lol, I went to put on the 2 piston calipers today and got everything all taken off and ready to switch out and i pull out the new caliper and it didnt have the little rubber bushing things or the bolts or any of the hardware in the package with it. I went back to the store to exchange and they only keep one of those in stock at a time and needed to special order it. maybe tomorrow. :\

bad news and good news.

Hang in there. And thank you for sharing your progress even when things don't go perfectly. You're not alone, most car projects have their frustrating weird twists...

I'm very curious about what you think of the performance of the new calipers once they're installed.
