RRM Downpipe!!! [merged]
RRM Downpipe!!!
Hey guys, I just installed my RRM Downpipe this weekend and wanted to post on it...
First, alot of people were wondering about the sound... Is it loud... YES, obnoxious, maybe a little... But I like it... I have the RRM/Magnaflow axleback as well... I like the combo...
The exhaust sound is loud when (I have automatic) when going about the 10-25mph range...
However, on the highway cruising around 80mph in the 3,000rpm range the exhuast is higher pitched, but is not too loud, and very much tolerable!!!
I don't think it's ever intolerable like some people have mentioned...
Now the install!!! Easy, not hard, and took only an hour & half & that's smoke breaks included... I'm not counting the time it took me to run to the hardware store... Had to buy a couple 10mm bolts w/ washers & nuts for back part where it connects, as this was not included w/ my downpipe...
I did throw a check engine light but will be doing the fix that is listed in the How-To forums & will see how that works...
POWER:
I didn't feel like I've lost any back pressure or this has slowed me down in the lower rpm region... I can feel the gain up high, but don't feel any lost power in the lower region of the rpms...
Sum up (since this is getting long!!!):
RRM did it again... I myself am super happy & think this is another great product... RRM's site doesn't lie this is a great product for N/A guys & a lot of bang for your buck power wise!!!
Props to RRM

I just heard it over the weekend on a fellow ralliart owner, now dont get me wrong, RRM kicks a$$, but that thing was LOUD, way too loud. And when I took it for a spin (we both tried out each others cars) I really didnt recognize all that much. Like you said, its definitely in the high end is where you recognize it the most, not down low. But he had the stock exhaust, which made it sound absolutely awful.
I've had loud exhaust once in my life never again. (The axleback is loud enough) Like I've mentioned before I still feel that the downpipe should be reserved for track use. Noise = Power
I would imagine it'd sound really bad on the stock exhaust...
Sometimes gotta sacrifice some comfort... Even so, if it's that bad, there's always a silencer... I think it's quite tolerable... but haven't heard it on stock exhaust... so...

The problem with the downpipe noise is easily fixed. You can either have a high-flow cat welded in or you can have a resonator welded in to the downpipe (cheapest option). When I put my downpipe in, I'm going to go the resonator route if I don't like the noise. It's supposed to make it sound really mean.

I'd be more than willing to post sound clip, but have no clue how to do that... and don't know if I'd have anything to get it up here on....
Anyway... It is loud, but in a way I kinda knew I was going to get recognized w/ this & EVO8 wing... Not too worried about catching looks...
Alliedcries if you really want the pipe you can get it & just have the hi-flow cat or resonator welded in as suggested... I think it's worth it!!! Love this upgrade!!!
