Yeah, it must be worth the trouble and money. If it gives us 5HP I'm interested... but 2??? That close to the margin of error on some dynos...

I see the interest is going south. The pulley will be coming off the car this weekend. Please relax.

If gains are not there I will not sell the part. It is that simple. I am not in any business to deceive or rip people off for gains that you can't feel. Whoever weighed the stock pulley thank you!

No worries, people just want to be excited for the part, and are hoping for the best as far as gains go.

Yeah, don't worry Joe... we're only thinking out loud at this stage.

I can speak for myself and say I really want this part to acheive good numbers so I can buy it and enjoy!

So if the stock RA pulley weighs in around 8lbs then you will get a lightened pulley in stock weight that weighs around 2.5lbs. Based on the every 1LB off the crank you lose equaling 4.5HP that would net you roughly 25hp, which could very well be worth 10whp OR MORE. Once again these are only estimates, but this shows you that there is huge potential here for some gains.

Am I missing something or misinterpreting? Cuz it doesn't really sound as good as it did at the beginning :|
Just a quick mention on the above post - there's an error in the math. Joe's_EVO8 stated the pulley weighed 2/3 less then the stock - the math by Dre 8472 is 2/3 of the stock weight. At 4lbs stock, it works out to 12lbs crank, using about 30% loss, should be about 8whp. Seems to be decent for the money if the numbers turn out to be accurate.

The EVO pulley may fit. I am unsure because I put it back on my car to get access to this pulley to test it on the RA. The stock RA pulley is around 6.5" inches wide, not 7.5" as mentioned earlier. The RA/EVO use the same tensioner and use a serpentine belt not individual belts which makes servicing much more simple.

Furthermore the math on weight is that aluminum weighs anywhere from 3/4's to 2/3's less than the stock pulley. This would generally mean that the stock pulley weighing in at 4lbs you would end up with a pulley weighing 1lb or less in the same size. The EVO pulley is less than 1lb as pictured.

What I am doing at the moment is testing a EVO lightweight underdrive pulley in the place of the RA pulley. It is underdriven by say around 30% which is good. After a few test fittings with different belts I found the correct belt and installed it in the car. After intial startup it appears everything is ok. I would not recommend anyone buying a EVO pulley yet as there are some differences, although some testing will concur if it is suitable. I will do this over the weekend although will stll send out the stock pulley for the CNC shop to take their thousands of an inch measurements to adapt this pulley. It is still up in the air if I want to go the undriven. The results from this test will decide that. I have to test idle AMPS/VOLTS, driveability, and of course power. I DO NOT WANT ANYONE TRYING A EVO LIGHTENED PULLEY ON THEIR OWN. The difference in size and where the belt rides could cause a problem and without proper adjustment the bely could fly off resulting in severe engine damage. Let me take the chance and do the testing so everyone can reap the benefits.

The Stock pulley is around 6.625" round where the undrievn pulley I am testing as shown in the pictures is 4.9375. This results in around a 25% underdrive. This is an ideal underdrive for testing the principle of underdriving the accessories. So far I see no problems with light dimming will all things on at idle, or coming off the revs and applying the brakes to come to a stop. As you may know these are areas that are usually affected if your alternator cannot keep up. The AC blows just as cold and the power steering feels no different.

The bolt holes DO lineup, do not let the picture concern you. Here are a couple shots i took. I need a better camera, these are from my camera phone which I had with me right when I was do this. As explained earlier I plan to do a writeup on this so these are NOT instructions.

Not yet, although if the underdrive pulley from the EVO works on the RA then I am sure the stock EVO pulley should work. As said above I am sure that there may be a clearence issue because the height of the pulley may not allow for proper belt fitment. I am currently using the stock pulley in my car because I wanted to test the effects of underdriving the Ralliart. Feel free to test your Ra with an EVO pulley although I feel it will be a waste of time because they weigh similar and you would have to buy a different belt. More than likely not worth the time involved. The stock RA pulley will be going out tommorow. I will keep everyone posted.

The lightened pulley made for the RA will be worth your time. preliminary testing of the EVO pulley on the RA has been very good. I will do some more testing tommorow. I personally feel that an underdriven route may be the best because most of you guys would want to replace your belts anyways. If the RA pulley is made the same size as the EVO pulley I am using a belt would be in the $20usd range. If I find a place to sell me a discount at quantity I will do that too. I will keep everyone posted. I am very excited about the results and the car is happier to rev too!
