problem with evo/ralliart rods.
problem with evo/ralliart rods.
OK guys, so I'm currently in the middle of building up my turbo'd ralliart, which is using a 4g69 motor. It has been proven that evo rods will fit this motor no problem, as a few people has done this already.
but i have came accross a minor problem....
I will post pictures within the next few days, but let me verbally explain it now.
If you look on the stock rod, there is a tiny little pin whole that goes up threw the center of it, and sorta out of the side/top of the Rod. I'm told by my mechanic its so oil can be forced through the tiny pin hole and lube up the rest of the assembly, for smoother operation.
my questions are of two.
1. Do the evo stock rods have this oil pin hole? or just us 4g69 guys.
2. The Eagle H-beam rod i used does NOT have this hole. Is it neccasary to have this hole, and i should put this hole in each of my new rods????, or is that hole just a safety thing, that dont "need" to be done?
I'm going to post this up on the evo thread, and the ralliart section, that way i can get advice from both sides of the camp. I need answers ASAP so i know what to do to the rods i ordered.
thanks.

to ME(now im no mechanic an u know that already) but it sounds like a lil extra but not needed safety. i would think if it was a BIG deal mitsu would prob incorporate that in their lil evo seeing as how its their pride an joy and all. thats just my look on it lol

click on them 2 links, they are the pictures of the hole i was talking about...
take a look at it, and let me know if you think its essential, or just there as an added safety measure

this is a hole for oil. It helps keep the part cooler by prviding "cool" oil inside it and keeping the parts temperature lower and avoinding it to break.
It is not necessary if you have a piece that is made to withold greater temperature.
I'd simply keep a closer eye on my engine temp sensors
We had the same thing in the 4AGE. Those were handy for high revving if I remember well but all the guys going turbo would take the much stronger rods from the 4agze that didn't had those holes.
