Thank you CrAnSwIcK.
100% I would buy Gates but I think that I am out of luck for 4g69 that is in 04 Sportback.... I searched multiple websites and I was unable to find a blue racing Gates for it. I will call them on Tue for sure.

1. I understood that I need to replace all the belts and pulleys when doing the timing belt replacement. I will do the water pump also. Do I need to replace the water pump pulley also (it is $40 - in the total scheme would not matter but if I really don't need to spend the money for it I would prefer not to).....?...Funny... I just found out also that I should have replace 50k miles ago the Serpentine belt.... I love Mitsubishi OEM parts that last twice their time .

Item nr 3

2. The timing auto tensioner (MR984375) - I found one that is $40 cheaper than the mitsp.net - but it is Aisin. Anybody knows if this is indeed the OEM or they are the supplier to go to when one needs a part as close to OEM as possible?

Thanks.

pretty sure they don't make that for this engine, but it would be my next timing belt if they did...they only offer OEM replacement to my knowledge, but it may be cheaper than geniune OEM, and if I needed to save money I would trust Gates. Right now I'm a little strapped after some major purchases, so I would probably even go with the gates kit...rock auto sells it with a water pump for $190!

you don't need a pulley for the water pump, there's 4 little bolts that hold it on the pump, just clean it up and re-use it. The water pump assembly comes with a gasket, and a new o-ring for the water pipe, so you don't need to buy the gasket separately. Also the upper timing cover gasket...unless it's missing/dry/cracked, don't bother...if you're worried about oil getting on the timing belt, money would be better spent on a valve cover gasket, dirt shouldn't be getting in there if it's at least touching the motor. Also I wouldn't recommend paying OEM price for a serpentine belt...two of the parts store special probably don't even cost that much.

Also, I feel like those prices are much higher than what I paid, because I remember paying around $400 for my timing components. I had money when I did mine..."in this economy" I would go with the gates kit TCKWP332, hard to argue with that price from a reliable company. Gates warranty states that basically as long as you're not racing, it gets contaminated with oil, anti freeze whatever that it's covered for 18 months from purchase... i'm assuming they would want proof it was installed by a certified mechanic, thought they don't mention it. either way your Mitsubishi dealership warranty is up after this year if it's not extended, by time regardless of mileage, so I mean really, do you NEED oem? the ACDELCO kit is almost $300 if you trust that higher price equals better quality, it's probably all made in china in the same factory anyway...I only recommend OEM because I used OEM, then turbocharged and raced my car hundreds of times, and it's got about 80,000km on it now...I looked at it in the spring and it looked fine. and gates cause I know that people have used them, and it's lasted...I think one failure was posted here kind of not really conclusive, and I don't even remember what brand it was...but I mean, if you want peace of mind, that the OEM parts should last as long as the ones being replaced, then you can't go wrong, if you can afford it.

also JNZ tuning has slightly lower prices...not much, but hey!

Look at this boys re: gates and others versus OEM Mitsu parts (comment at 4:45). I love this guy:

Thanks guys.

So today I called 2 Mitsu dealerships in my area to ask how much are they asking for a timing belt.
1- $96
2 - $106
MSRP is $72 and it sells at around $50 and change in different places - OEM !!!

And I asked one of them if he can match the price with the online website. He asked me which site. When I told him mitsubishiparts.com his answer was that guys over there don't sell OEM parts. "they just claim that". I couldn't believe that.

I like the NJZTuning website. It is 1.5h away from me. I wish that they were some more north. As of this moment I think that I will opt for driving to them instead of paying 88 for shipping.

so OEM belts...but what about the pulleys? I mean, if someone's trying to save money, it's too bad it could potentially cost them much more...
