you may just have a problem
cuz wen i got my 04 ra from the dealer the previous owner put 225/50/16...there was enough clearance above the wheels...however it was tooo wide and basically every time i hit a bump the wheels rub up against the side of the wheele well...but this is on a 04 ra idk if that would apply to the 03 oz

I got an 04 ralliart. i installed an aem cold air intake in it. and the power is increased but my engine stalls out at around 100 m.p.h. and it did not do this before the intake. How do I fix it so that i can keep my cold air intake unit?

Short answer is yes.

Long answer: I don't think the ratios are the same (too lazy to look for the EVO ratios though)... and the clutch is a bit different too (more power to handle).

For me, the tranny was the highlight of that car too. I should really buy a used RA, it's really a fun car to drive!


Also, I remember reading that the pistons on the mules were ceramic coated... but I could never confirm that they were on the production version of the car. After 5 years, I suppose I'll never know for sure...

thanks i think the evo have different grears because my brother say that if i do have the same tranny i can change the gears so i can redline at 7 not 6500. I love my ralliart and so does my friend even though he has a itr

Just fun to know. I have a EVO VIII radiator and hoses, The rad fit perfectly (Koyo) but the bottom hose needs to be an inch longer so it doesn't rub on the clutch lever. The problem can be solve by adding a Water Temp Sensor Adapter.

BTW I have a 2004 RA and the hoses are Samco for the Evo VIII

I just bought my '04 ralliart a couple weeks ago, stock rims, westlake radial sp06 tires.

I am absolutely in love with the Motegi Touge black rims, although I've no experience in this area so I don't want to buy something that isn't going to fit.

I found this information somewhere about what I would need for my car:

Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3 (5x4.5)
Offset: 35-45
Wheel Range: 16x6.0-18x7.5
OEM Tire: 205/50-16

The Motegi Touge comes in size 18x7.5, bolt 5-4.5, and offset 45
These would theoretically fit, correct?

I can't even see how that could be possible. How could an AWD and FWD car share the same tranny? Unless Mitsubishi built a funky transfer case that would bolt to the side of the transaxle, my brain can't find a way that could be possible in a transversal layout.


They might have used common parts in both trannies but the tranny itself couldn't be the same.

Please someone explain this to me!

Let's just say that they've used as much of the EVO's tranny hardware as they could...

For more details, there's plenty of info on the forum on the subject... it was discussed at length back when the car was new.
