Question Ralliart 1/4 Times

In the interest of getting my 1/4 times down, I need some motivation and tips. I've been to the track 4 times /w my car and made my best pass today, which was as follows:

60': 2.269
330': 6.479
1/8: 9.937 @ 71.67MPH
1000': 12.900
1/4: 15.427 @ 89.41MPH

If you look at the other Ralliart timeslips you see that others /w crappier 60's (mid 2.3's - high 2.4's) are getting faster 1/4 runs and higher MPH /w less mods. I know im not the best driver in the world, but I also know the launch is the most important part of the race. Why might it be that my good launch is resulting in such bad times?

Also, what have you guys done at the track? What details? power shifting or not? what tire pressure? slicks or streets? Im running 25psi in the tires, only power shifting 2nd and 4th (I lock myself outs 3rd alot =), launching at 2400RPM /w a feathered cluth, and using stock rims/tires.

I got some vids of me and palcallao doing runs. I beat a Civic EX (BAD!) and he got beat by a cobra (duh). I'll post them when i figure out how to rip them in linux =)

reaction wasnt counted in my time. good thing, i had a 1.169 reaction on that run still crossed the line 2.3558 faster than the civic! and others are getting better times /w lower 60's on the same stock tires (well, DallasN2o did, at least. SOB! lol jk)

but thats what im saying. even /w the stock, i still had a 60' lower by .1 and I do it concistantly. do the tires really make that much of a diff in the high end? that is one of my upcomming mods, tho.

Yes, these tires suck.

I had grippy tires on my lancer es, those things gripped good! Waaaay better than my RA stockies.

Its your shifting. What rpm are you shifting at in each gear? And you need to practice to get your reaction time faster. If I_rep can run 15.03 in Califoria with a short shifter and CAI then you should be running high 14's in FLorida with erverything you have. Nice 60 time BTW that is the biggest problem for most people.

about 7k each gear. according to my dyno i could prob try shifting earlier, to keep the save avg HP, but increase my avg TQ. make sense? im new at this =)

From looking at some dyno sheets, 7k for shifting is too high - try lowering it a couple hundred rpm for each gear and see if that improves things. If it does, try lowering it again until your results worsen again. A 2.2 60' is good for the stock tires, but are you getting much wheel spin on shifting? (1-2 especially). If so, you're losing time there as well, and another reason to lower your shift points if you are.

Yes I scored a 15.3 @91.1mph.. only mod I had was removed spare tire and jack. Guys the reaction time makes no diff. It doesn't count toward your 1/4. I have factory potenzas and was shifting at about 6300-6400. I powershift in every gear when drag racing.. ie. I dont take the gas pedal off the floor. It could have something to do with elevation as I am just about sea level. I'm sure you guys are higher than that.

Hmm...keep on talking guys that I'm absorbing everything you guys are talking about. So I can improve my times. I was there with Blk-majik and he was getting some good runs, hey bro'...my bad about that last run that I couldnt film what was the problem with it?. I ran a 15.7 with just a CAI next time I go I'll take your advise about not slamming the gas when I launch. It was fun though I look foward to do it again and improve my times with my upcoming mods .

Fuel cut off is just befor 7000 RPM. That is way to high to shift at. Red line is 6500. Shift there from 1st -2nd and then between 6300-6400 each shift after. Power shift every time and PRACTICE SHIFTING. Your rpms should only drop to just over 4500 rpms after each shift.

7k is waaay to high, we lose power after 6400-6500...

Also, its all on the driver too, I_REP did do a 15flat... but he is a good driver.

Damn that's pretty good 15 flat. I do practice everytime I go to a stop light...lol. I launch real quick until I hit the speed limit or maybe a couple of miles above it.

I think I was shifiting around 6500 all the way so I'm pretty sure is my launching that is killing my times.
60: 2.42
330: 6.67
1/8: 10.162@ 70.06
1000: 13.19
1/4: 15.78@ 87.42

But I know I'm a rookie at this...so I know with time and advise it will get better .
