Shaking Steering Wheel

Hey I've noticed that my steering wheel vibrates a little @ high speeds like around 80mhp I was just wondering if you guys have also experienced it. I tought maybe it was a rocking pinion but this car is so new I don't so a lil' help thanks

you may have a wheel out of balance. My 18"wheels get out of balance every now and again, but the only time I can tell is at high speeds on the highway. When this happens, the steering wheel vibrates like you are talking about. Hope this helps

Some very slight wobbling is considered normal in the RA. The RA has a short steering ratio and lacks a shimmy damper that is in the ES/OZ. But if you let go of the wheel and it really shakes, get your wheels balanced, if that doesn't work, you need a front end alignment.

Check your lugs to see if they came loose. When i just installed my CAI when we went to put the wheel back on 2 of the lugs would just spin and not go on all the way. We had to take 2 off the back and put them on the front and it worked, and the 2 from the front worked on the back LOL. Im going to bring mine in to get looked at and if they wont fix it im going to have to do it myself cause at least 2 are a bit striped. so i would check that as well since i had this problem @65mph. GL also man.

allignment would be sumwhat an issue if it pulls either to the left or right whle driving straight.. while ur brakng does it vibrate.. if it does then its brake issue... meaning ur rotors are uneven n needs to be turned, i.e. resurfaced.. but if it vibrates at excessive speed then its wheel balancing...

Incorrect toe setting will cause wheel shaking without pull to the right or left, just wheel shaking and tire wear. Wheel balance first, alignment second. Unless it happens while braking, but that's not how I read it.

Seems like everyone has covered all the bases pretty much, only thing i can think to add is, how long has it been going on? is it a road you travel a lot... even so I know the freeways over here in phx are getting redone right now, but the parts that haven't been are horrible and have little dips in them that i can feel through my steering wheel.... maybe its the road... cause i know through a section that i travel it's pretty bad not where the steering wheel shakes horribly but enough so i can definately feel it in my hand

One more thing - check your tires for a bubble. Sometimes you hit a pothole and the tire gets a small lump or bubble that will cause the shaking your experiencing as well.

Pumping some air into the tires made this problem go away for me.
