ralliart is very reliable. but like any other car it will only be reliable if you treat it correctly

Here... let me lay down so you can pi$$ on my face... would you ever walk up to someone and say "I heard your car is a piece of crap... should I get one?"... It's a car... you are gonna have problems... I have had less problems with this car than I have with any other car... if it's the car that fits you get it... chances are you are only going to hear horror stories from people who don't have one... you're probably not gonna hear how much fun it is to drive... I wouldn't recommend an automatic... and if you can afford an evo get one... but don't forget the maintenance of an AWD Turbo...

I love my car... I have driven other cars since I had my car and have wanted to trade mine in... but then I get back and my car and that all goes away... there are better cars... there will always be better cars... you just have to drive one and see... you might not like it... but all the skeptics that have driven my car have loved it... my friend has a specV and is so jealous of my car...

Uhhhh... if you have to ask, then you should probably get the RalliArt (or other same class car). You just "know" that you need an Evo. I think the one word in your post that is a big tip-off is "auto". An Evo is a serious driving machine, and not something that you try because you heard it's a great car. When you buy an Evo, I don't think many care about it's service record.

Dollar for dollar, I think the RA is best in its class (you should be paying well below MSRP by the way). If you want to be in the low to mid 20s, there are a number of options - WRX, RSX, TSX, for example.

The RA is the best value for your money. And no, I'm not just saying that because I own one... I also had to choose between all those cars when I bought mine last year.

Go drive it and if it suits you, get it. If it doesn't, it's probably because you're looking for and/or accustomed to comfort over performance. In that case, go for a Kia or Hyundai or something of the sort... they'll offer the best value in their category.

And remember, it's not about what your friends think is cool or not... it's sbout what best suits your needs.

I went through the 2004 WRX, 2005 Scion tc, and 2004 RA decisions and I only had about $15000 to spend.

- 2004 WRX was too expensive/insurance would be higher (turbo)
- 2005 Scion was too expensive and no older year old moels because it was new.
- 2004 Lancer vs. SpecV - I've always loved lancers so this was my chance to nab one

like everyones saying. find whats in your price range and that best suites your needs. I love Evo's but if I spent that much money on a car I'd go for an Sti (with Cruise Control) or a used BMV (comfort and sporty).

The Lancer line, with the exception of the Evo, was rated as one of the top ten most reliable small cars of 2004.

Mitsu had some reliability problems back in the 90's during the partnership with Chrysler, and then, the only issues were with some of the turbo models which people abused. Modern Mitsu's are very reliable and well built. Even the first year that the Ralliarts were out, there were very few problems. It's a very well built car and I recommend Mitsubishi to my friends and family.
