If you have an automatic, then that's probably correct. Try to clean your injectors by adding some Chevron Techron your next fill-up, and when's the last time your spark plugs have been changed? I think the number of times the engine turns at start-up takes up a lot of gas for automatic cars.

He's nowhere near due for spark plugs if he's only at 56k. For all city driving on an auto, 19-20mpg is probably about what you could expect. Might be time for a seafoam treatment.

I drive a stick. And yes I do drive it a little harder then I should but I bought it to have fun. The manuel said to change plugs at 30K. I know it isn't nessasary with these spark plugs but the shop did it anyway because its on the list.

I did think that I may have gotten bad gas so I might try different gas.

Otter- what's a seafoam treatment?

^^ Lol awesome, I hate it when people say search when theyve already read the question and instead of giving he/she an answer, says search instead. If you dont know it then say so but if you do, help a fellow RA owner out. As for me, I would also like to know what seafoam is.

I have an 04 Auto and I do a mix of highway/city everyday, prob about 45 miles roundtrip, I normally get about 19-20 too, so I dont think its anything too weird. Ive gotten as low as 14 mpg and as high as 33 mpg since Ive had the car depending on where/how im driving so 20 isnt all that bad.

gotta admit that 20mpg for a naturally aspirated 4-banger is pretty pathetic.

My BMW 5-series wagon used to get better mileage.

Seafoam is a type of fuel system cleaner. It works damn good versus using Gumout, STP, etc. Lucas Tune Up In A Bottle works really good too.

Same year, same tranny, and I get the same results as you, although the highest I have seen is closer to 30, not 33.

That has been my biggest disappointment with my RA. A non-high performance car with high performance MPG.
