Exhaust Smells Rich

Has anyone else experienced their exhaust smell like the car is running very rich?? I had the stock air filter, and have only changed the rear muffler. I run regular Chevron gas, but my car puts out a very toxic gas smell when it's running. It's a smell I would expect from an old carbureted muscle car.

I would go to the dealer if I were you. The combination of that and the fact your getting really bad gas mileage makes me think that something is definatly wrong. I would guess a bad O2 sensor, keeps telling the computer your lean or something; but only a diagnostic will tell you for sure.

I didnt see anything in there saying you have bad mileage...however, if you are getting horrible mileage out of the car then I would also say take it to the dealer and see if your o2 sensor or even ECU is malfuncting... they shouldnt give you a problem with just a replaced muffler...if you are getting normal milage out of the car then it is possible that you are running normal, but smelling more of the exhaust due to the muffler...most cars run somewhat rich stock to avoid detonation

All in all, if you feel it is really bothersom or is affecting your mileage go to a dealer and have them run a diagnostic.. otherwise its possible that it is normal...

I'm curious since my Ralliart is completey stock yet every time I get out of the car after driving a decent distance I can smell the exhaust just walking to the rear of the car. Is that normal?

I revved mine really hard when I first got it, and got a burning smell. I learned not to do it again. How many miles do you have on the car?
