So the piggyback gets wired to the ECU and that requires some soldering?

The stroke in the engine is so long that raising the redline could damage things. Furthermore peak torque is at 5700RPM so why would you want to raise the redline?

I can tell you how bad the fuel mileage was from when RRM sent me the wrong piggyback
hahaha sorry I hold no grudges even though it did run like **** for 2 months and still
dont know if the wrong A/F ratio or whatever was different caused any damage. :P

anyways, I actually get roughly about the same mileage as having the piggyback or not haveing one on. I also have a AEM CAI, and have cut off the catalytic converter.

Even if it does burn a little bit more gas, you'll definitely appreciate it. It's seems like a new car with that piggyback installed, especially with some tires that really grip. Of course my car is a 2003 with a 2litre, but I've heard the 2.4 litre is a beast with the piggyback from a guy here in our lancer club.

I never said I wanted too. you made that up. I stated that I raised it on my RSX with great gains. I was just asking if the piggyback alters it thats all.

i still dont see how electronics alone could safely do this....unless the electronics are on a system that has a VERY overly-safe redline point and it just assumes that things wont get hurt by going into this

There are many things that contribute to an engine's redline. The stock internals, depsite the long stroke, could probably handle a higher redline. However there are other things to think about (intake, exhaust, ignition) that make an engine run out of steam. The exhaust is pretty good anyway, the stock intake is slightly restrictive, the ignition could probably handle higher revs. What about the fuel system?
In my old car (82 citation) the redline was like 5000rpm. Not only because it had really cheap internals, but because it was pushrod and had a terrible ignition. The ignition wasn't powerful enough to run the engine past 5000, if I tried to force it to, the engine sounded TERRIBLE (going to blow apart). Of course everything else (exhaust, 2 barrel carb) was restricting it too. Thus, it got 90 horsepower out of a 2.5L engine.

You left an open-ended statement. I was implying what I thought you meant. Either way you and I know that the RA redline needs more than just electronic control to be raised. The RSX is a different car with different possibilities.

I hope thats more clear!
