I'd also blip the throttle on startup, I've had a couple really harsh starts where the motor was about to stall out. A quick blip kept it running and it went back to idling normally.

Going to resurrect this thread as I experienced this exact issue for the first time yesterday.

Happened at roughly 50F degrees but it was extremely windy and wet so that may have effectively reduced temps further.
Took me two tries to get any life from the engine after cranking for 2-3 seconds. Is it anything to be worried about?

I do live in Australia so the weather RARELY gets that cold, in fact I think its the first time it's been below 50F since I bought the car.

Edit: I drive an 08 Ralliart.

Have you checked the relays in the underhood fuse box? What color do you have?
