40 amp on relay harness

ok guys i have a hid slim kit from hid extra with a relay harness.i know i connected everything right because the hid go on no flickering or anything.the only problem i have is when the lights are in the off position the relay(40 amp black box)it starts to buzz really loud and when i turn the lights on it stops and the buzzing is not from the ballasts.i checked the ground everything is on properly.so any help with this i would appreciate.hid extra already sent me a new relay harness but same thing keeps on happening.

If you are running the HIDExtra kit you shouldn't need a relay kit. I have slim lowbeams and foglights without any relay harness and no problems.

But to answer your question, my guess is that when you turn the lights off, your DRL would come on normally which is a lower voltage. So a low voltage is being supplied to the relay, but not enough for it to trip and actually turn the lights on. Hence the buzzing sound.

+1. When you turn the Low Beams OFF, the Daytime Running Lights activate. Simply put, the DRL signal is at a lower voltage (dimmer than Low Beams ON). That being said, this DRL signal does not provide enough power to fully activate your HID kit. Thus, your HID's will flicker and/or short out. This will cause damage and lessen the lifetime of your HID kit. Either run your HID's at full power (Low Beams ON) at all time or bypass the DRL's.

If you contact HIDextra they will send you the DRL bypass harness free...or at least they did for me. It's just an inline harness with a compacitor in it. The only downside (or up side) to their bypass harness is that your low beams will be on all the time. I don't mind this, but some people may like to have the lights off during the day which I think Jrox kit will allow you to do.

Like I said before if you bought the kid from HIDExtra.com (which you said you did) then you don't need to buy any antiflicker kit, or relay harness. Call them and they will send you a free inline harness to fix your problem.
