I agree with you, no point in installing a head unit with navi when most cellphones have it built in.

I just bought the Pioneer AVH-P440BH with the scosche dash kit and had it installed, and I love it! You lose voice recognition with bluetooth but gain integrated Ipod controls (including album art), HD radio, bluetooth streaming from your phone, 8 band eq, backup camera input, etc while retaining your steering wheel controls.

As an added bonus, just by replacing the stock head unit, the sound is much better. Let me know if you'd like to see some pictures!

sure there is. Most cell phones don't have 7" displays... I've used my cell phone for navi and i've used the MMCS for navi. The cell phone is great in a pinch, but having that 7" screen for navi is much better for regular use, especially if you have a head unit that provides traffic data.

Stock navigation units are terrible, with few exceptions. Not to mention that they do not offer constant updates like most phones. Aftermarket stereos offer much more bang for the buck and customization options. I agree that having a 7 inch screen for navi is nice, but I feel it's not worth the price premium over regular dvd receivers.

I agree, the pioneer is good bang for the buck.
If you have iphone, buy the pioneer usb cord for it too. It lets you use your phone's apps through it like navi. Bluetooth is limited in some aspects.

The EQ and power is so much better than the MMCS as well. You will really notice how crappy stock speakers are.

My sound was much improved, even with the crappy stock speakers. I would highly advise AGAINST buying Pioneer's Ipod cable though; the white cord that comes with ipods is sufficient to transmit all necessary data (song/album/artist info).

also - see the EVO X audio section for other ideas (integrated touch screen stereo and computer to directly connect and read as gauges what the ECU sees)...

Thunderchicken, did you do the install yourself? I'm thinking about replacing my HU, and was wondering how difficult it is. (I've installed stereos before.)

Hydmech, what did you decide to go with?

I brought the headunit, dash kit, wiring harness, parking brake bypass and steering wheel controls adapter to my local audio shop and they installed it for $80. I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing it myself in the garage, plus they took the time to solder all the connections which I probably wouldn't have done myself.

Thanks. That's precisely what I was considering. I still haven't gathered anything yet, or even decided what head unit I wanted...
