Fast Key - Valet?

My car has FastKeys.

Can someone please explain if an 09 RA SST with FastKey has Valet Mode? and how to use it??

I noticed the fob has a metal key in the fob, but when I took it out and tried it in the iginition in the steering column, it would not start the car, it would just click all the power on but not start the engine. What is the metal key for?

I did some searches, I cannot find any information about the fast keys and possible stock OEM valet modes.

I just don't want to leave it with a 'Detail Shop' and have the detail kid ripping around in it or have it on a business trip and have a valet beating on it either...

Thanks.

the metal key is a backup if your battery dies in your fob. when you put the metal key in the ignition, you have to touch the metal key with the fob, then it will turn. weird and dumb feature

only valet mode i know of is a map from the cobb ap

someone can correct me if im wrong

You pull the metal key out, flip it 180 degrees, and insert its rear into the fob. Then it just works. Like a regular key.

It's a masterful bit of design. I especially like the part where it has the keyring bit in the very spot that needs to be flipped and inserted into the fob... so you have to dick about removing all your other keys, LED Lego Darth Vader torch, Swiss Army Knive, mini turbocharger trinket, name tag, office alarm fob, wife's car's alarm fob...

As far as I know the Cobb AP is the only thing that has "valet" mode. Trust me, I worry about this too when I have no choice but to valet my car and I see the 19 year old kid grinning ear to ear as I pull up.

Thanks, Not having Valet mode is scary. carrying around a Cobb tuner is dumb. not going to happen for me.

Anyone else know about a secret valet mode? or possibly a valet key available to purchase from a Mitsu dealer?

Am I the only one who hates when a place has " forced vallet " just because either they choose to have a location without enough parking or just as another way to rip off the common fool? Yeah no thanks I can park my own car...

Anyways a bit but yeah usually higher end cars are the ones with a vallet mode

I am not a fan of forced valet. Yeah, part of it is concern for others driving my car, but really I just see the dollar signs, I'd rather pay less and park myself, thank you. This was a concern of mine when I first got the car and could not find valet mode, but to be honest it has only come up once since I've owned the car.

I've avoided 'forced valet' since 1990 when I got my M3. It's been self park only for me for 22 years now. You get used to it!

Cheers.

When you hand the keys to the valet, ask them where the valet lot is. When they answer and give you a funny look, just say you will be monitoring the GPS tracking from your phone, and just wanted to know. Then smirk and hand over your keys. They'll never know if you do or don't have GPS and will probably not risk it.
