Gas Overflow

I just got a 2010 Ralliart and I have noticed that the gas pump does not stop automatically when the tank is full. This has happened to me twice now.
Conditions outside might be a factor for the actual pump, as it is well below freezing where I live right now.
Or is there something with the car that does not trigger the pump to stop?

If the pump stopped before the tank was full and/or had to be restarted many times to fill the tank, that would indicate a problem on the car side. Not stopping when full is a problem on the gas pump side.

What would the problem on the car side be? This happened me once or twice, though since it was once or twice out of thousands of refuelings I figured it was benign and/or a pump issue.

On a related subject, please help me. I live in Indiana and on snowy/rainy days where the temperatures are close to freezing, my gas lid will freeze shut. Then, to open it, its almost impossible even after breaking all the ice build-up. The hinge just doesn't seem to want to pop open. Any recommendations?

I live in Indiana too and have never once had a problem with gas overflow and as far as the gas door when I didnt have a garage to store it I did have to use my keys a couple times to break the ice around the edge but since having it garaged now I no longer have those problems.

If it's car side it's usually EVAP related e.g. EVAP vent not working correctly.

Lube the hinge/release every time you do your oil change.

Put a wedge to hold open the door release, phone or wallet works good then take a credit card or library card and pry the door open...worked every time for me

yea, i usually take an old credit card and wedge it in hoping it stays wedged long enough for me to side step and press the gas lid release button on the driver side floor. It is a pain in the butt.
