I know a large amount of you have already sorted out your insurance but for those still looking here is what I have found.
Based on: 25 year old, car kept in lock-up garage in "safe" suburb in Perth, WA. Sole driver. Full no claim bonus.
Mistubishi Lancer Evo8
SGIO:
Refused to quote at all... Reason is that they will very rare insure a Petrol Turbo car at all.
JUST CARS:
Based on RRP of $61,990 (will not insure the full price)
65% no claim
Premium per year: $1,608
Basic Excess: $300
Car (categorised as an import) excess: $1,000
Theft excess: $1,500
So full excess if the car was stolen is $2,800
SHANNONS:
1)
Based on $63,000
65% no claim
Premium per year: $2,379
Age excess: $600
Basic Excess: $500
2)
Based on $70,000 car (drive away price here in WA)
Premium per year jumps to: $3,200
RAC
Based on $70,000
55% no claim
Premium per year: $1,849
Age excess: $300
Basic Excess: $200
AS you may have guessed I have taken out the RAC insurance.
I hope this helps some one out there. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.
Thanks

I had my previous cars insured with them. I personally have not had many problems, but I do know of people who have. I can't justify paying the extra $1400 to go with Shannons at the moment. Maybe down the track.
Also RAC are fine with car mods, as long as they are listed.
