Greetings! 2010 Evo X MR checking in with a couple of questions
Greetings everyone!
My name is Nick from San Diego.
I just picked up an AP and recieved it last night. I own a 10' Evo X MR. My mods are simple:
Injen Intake with UICP
AMS Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Racing Series Cat-Back Exhaust System
My car is a prime for a Stage 1+INJ ACN91 Octane map!
I have tried looking in this forum for any similar setup. I have not much success.
Most post I saw was left unanswered. I also saw some post that members needs to remove the boost pill to hit the target boost.
I thought since it's an OTS map, as long as your car meets the required mods you should get an expected outcome.
Given that there has been some room for variation (ex. boost +/- 1.8 psi), it seems members posting here are somewhat missing a more ideal experience with the AP. Reading that they need to take off the boost pill to reach the target boost as an example.
I hope that these are one off's issues and most of the members/owners are having better success with a plug and play experience.
One other question, can I upgrade the AP before using it on my car to make sure I have the latest firmware and maps?
I hope to get some feedback.
thanks!

Protuned with an Accessport here.
Did you buy your AP directly from Cobb? If so, then it should already be 100% updated and current for your car. If not, it's as simple as connecting it to your computer and updating it with Cobb's software.
It sounds like you've already selected the proper map for your setup, flash it on and go from there! There are a lot of factors than effect boost pressure such as temperature, elevation, atmospheric pressure, grade of the road, gear, load, etc. As you mentioned, +/- 2psig is completely acceptable and to be expected. OTS maps are designed to safely work on a wide variety of cars in a wide variety of situations and environments.

With my simple mods, I thought the OTS should be ok.
If I was going to get a custom tune, it beats the porpuse of me getting an AP.
But yes, if I ever find an urge to get more mods and tune I will hit up a Cobb shop.

I just installed it today:

I poped off the OBDII plug so I can relocate it under the dash and ran the wire from the fuse cover.
The firmware is up to date.
When I plugged it in and ran install I did not see any maps other than the non performance, stage 1, and SF maps.
So I tested the anti-theft. It was not successful to disable the car from starting.
So I installed the AP Manager. The anti-theft map I got was the latest one (ver 301 along with the pre-load maps). I downloaded all the stage1+inj maps and headed back to my car.
I loaded the Stage1+INJ ACN91 Octane map. I started the car and notice the idle is way smoother than before!
I will use it tomorrow and check the boost for spike or sag.

The car runs better with the Cobb AP map than stock.
The boost pres. went up to 25.2 psi. So I loaded the LWG counter part.
I also filled up gas, so far it's 4 mpg more than what I had before.
So far so good.
