edit: oh and Mitsubishi had 45% Y2Y increase in November.
Turbo-diesel hybrid? Yes, please.
Built on a bespoke platform? Uh-oh ... sounds expensive. Sounds like Mitsbubishi is doing with the Evo what Nissan did with the GTR.
Still, hybrids and electrics are the future. Anything with the word "Evolution" in its name needs to get on board.
Heck, even without hybrid tech the Evo hasn't kept up with the competition over the past 10 years.
When I first started driving Evos in 2004 a well-driven Evo could keep up with a slightly-less-well-driven Vette around a round course, and would absolutely pwn Mustangs (except the Cobra R with IRS). Now? I would lose a stoplight drag against a secretary in a V-6 Mustang, unless it was raining.
Mitsu needs to either step up with the next Evo, or just put it out of its misery. If the article is close to accurate, Mitsu plans to step up.
What's the over/under on the Evo XI making it into production before Half-Life 3 is released?

Hybrids/electrics are not the future. They are produced to make the tree huggers happy. I don't think I know ANYBODY with a hybrid...
They might not be in YOUR future, but $6-$8 per gallon gas most likely will be. Personally, if I'm going to spend that much on gas, I want it to be a choice because I'm heading to a track day... not because I need to pick up some groceries.
And that is the reason hybrids/electrics are the future. It's not "tree huggers." It's people who don't want to spend more money running their car than they spent buying their car. It's people who don't want to be victimized by random spikes in a fungible, global commodity. It's people who don't want to be held hostage because they can't produce the energy to run their vehicle locally.

The hybrid Diesel engine leaves little to be desired IMO. Electric vehicles are not the future as battery life dies over time and do not last for the long road trips some Americans take. I believe hydrogen fuel will be our best bet for future transportation.
Hydrogen is just another energy storage method. If it were superior to chemical battery storage, it would already be in use. Unfortunately, it is less efficient in conversion, storage, and transportation.

hydrogen over ethanol?
They are not going anywhere, according to the CEO. Plus, they made a bit of money last year, which was a year before they planned on it.
I just hope they realize that when they were selling over half a million cars a year, it was when they had a panoply of performance vehicles in the shed.

Here's a nice article, just to dispel all the rumors from the jalopnik-level people out there.
