12.0 @ 115 pumpgas Island dragway
Seriously guys, one of my best fun nights of driving/tuning at Island Dragway
The rain held off literally untill the staging lanes closed. As the rope went accross the lanes, it started pouring. Timing couldn't have been better.
I took the evo8 and ran it on half tank of 93 pumpgas. I got 15 runs in.
13.462 @ 111.01 2.033 SPUN TIRES HARD and let off boost at 22
12.972 @ 112.29 2.166 bog after lowering launch rpm too much
12.420 @ 112.36 1.803 correct rpm (5500) not enough slip
12.774 @ 110.98 1.870 same with miss 3rd gearshift
12.170 @ 113.36 1.694 good launch and clean shifts boost up to 23
12.551 @ 113.38 1.913 bog otherwise clean
12.280 @ 113.28 1.790 took off airfilter, made no differance
12.077 @ 113.89 1.644
12.130 @ 114.76 1.734 boost up to 24
12.118 @ 114.35 1.695
12.084 @ 114.25 1.663 boost up to 25
12.053 @ 113.89 1.648
12.002 @ 114.60 1.634
12.113 @ 114.24 1.650 boost up to 26 some ign missifre
12.001 @ 115.35 1.659 more ign missifres
AF was pretty much 11.4 to 11.2 on every run, I didn't touch the fuel map after the 3rd or 4th run. Each run I was fine tuning the ignition map to get the max timing at each cell before the knock sensor would kick in.
The boost is very very spikey. on the first runs it will hit 22.0psi and settle down to 20.0 by redline. On the last run it will hit 26.8psi but still settle down to about 22psi by redline. most of the boost increase is only seen in the lower rpm range, as the higher boost settings seemed to fall off faster. Im not sure if the turbo is out of flow or if changing the boost controller referance would help level it out. Boost falls off ALOT more than I would like for a "480hp" turbo.
Im pretty happy for pumpgas 93 octane. I could have gone into the 11's with a magic perfect run, but 12.00 on the scoreboard twice and 5 12.0X in one night is good enough.

Nate,
Good to know you still go to island, one of my fav. tracks as well..I used to have the black galant with massive wheelspin launches..I was thinking of even going this friday if the weather is nice..What day do you go??Anyway the galant got hit while it was parked and I just picked up a GG MR last month..BTW I have a friend trying to finish an engine build and he still needs parts/work done, I'll tell him to hit you up..He needs someone to assemble an engine for him and do some headwork and he has most of the parts..Anyway I'll look for ya next time I go to island..Later,
Pete

) with 1.7-1.8 60's and still drove for 4 months after that on an RMR 6-puck disc until it finally gave out.
