Wow, Mynes won't install a clutch that they don't sell you? Pfff.... I'm sorry, but that's just lame. Every clutch I've EVER had installed- I've purchased on my own and then had installed.

Not to mention I know they've done it before.

Update!!!

wife had MBC & boost gauge installed at a shop in Mesa, AZ. i think the car is a freak of nature! car spiked to 24psi. turned it down. then car hit 20psi but 6K rpm jumped to 24psi!!. turned it down again. car hit 18psi then jumped to 23PSI. these were all 3rd gear runs on the street. turned it down AGAIN. tried 4th gear, car hit 17psi then jumped to 27psi by 6Krpm!!!!!this is good & bad. the bad is it's on a stock FP & 91 octane. the good is if we put in race gas, it will run like a cammed car. she will take it back to shop on Tues so they can check out AFRs...

That sounds like something is wrong somewhere, unless you have major creep issues.

Heh, this should be interesting although I'll bet the most excitement will come from reading the replys on here. I personally ran a 12.5 @ 110 on 91 octane running 20psi. I cut a 1.8 60', so I'll bet with some sticky tires and a great launch it could probably be done.

And what does ^ supposed to mean? I've been by your place in AZ. It's a nice place in a nice area.

Now, getting to the topic at hand. I predict going 12.00 on 91 is going to be a lot harder than going 11.49 on racing fuel. For one, the fuel here is horrible. For all those that don't live in CA or AZ - you have to experience it to really believe just how bad the fuel can be.

My last attempt at the track was on 91 octane. I was having some issues with the boost hose coming loose, but I still managed a 12.9 @ 106. The power was about 289 whp & 280 tq. That was also with upgrades everywhere except for the stock i/c core. If you can gain another .9 seconds on top of that, then I will take my hat off to you for you surely will have been hauling some serious ***!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Antonio, that's a great time! Congrats!! When did you make this run? And have you made any passes yet with 104 octane and 25-27 psi? If you don't spin your tires too much, I bet you'll be in the 11's.

People always underestimate how hard it is to improve times in the low 12s area. Look at his sig to see what he accomplished on race gas so far.

W-talon, I'm not underestimating a run into the 11's for Antonio. He's really making a lot of power on race gas and higher boost. I didn't notice his sig, but I'm sure with a little more experience and a 1.6 - 1.7 60', that 12.3 will be an 11.9. Antonio, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you've just recently figured out how to break 2.0 60's... right?

You can't ever say you're sure. 11s aren't easy, and things like that don't just happen on a whim. I was "sure" I'd go from 12.01 to 11.99 by raising my rev limiter, since I was being held back for about 50' when hitting my stock rev limiter on the 12.01 run. Well, after raising it to the point I don't hit it, I ran a 12.00 with the same 60', same power, and same shifting. For me, 1/100th of a second is tough to gain. You're talking about him gaining .4s like it's cake. It just doesn't work that way, but I don't doubt that his mods are capable of 11.9s given proper driving and conditions. I just don't like people saying, "I'm sure" this and "I'm sure" that, because you can't be sure of anything at that level...

Ahh, yeah, it's probably partly my fault for that... my car was up on the lift for 4 days because I didn't have all the parts to do the install (more parts needed replacing than I thought.)

I called around a few places and most would not install a clutch bought from another company, and if they did they jacked up their install rates. The dealership I called absolutely refused to install an Evo clutch that was not stock. I wonder, did you get a stock clutch Carlos??

I think from now on I will go to Road Race for future clutches since I can buy the parts and get it installed at the same place.

Yeah man learning to launch this car was a big deal for me. Hell i even recall talkin to warr about it a few months ago. I don't think I've got it perfected yet but I'm definately getting better at it. I think with some more practice and some decent tires I'll be able to cut a 1.6 or better soon. These crap BF's spin like bananas when I launch now though. To me it's all in good fun, I'm really not out to impress anyone but myself. At this point I'm pleased with my times... for now.

What is up man?, Yes, I was at the dealer this morning(O'rilleys Mitusbishi, Tucson), despite they gave me a bad *** deal on labor I choose not to have it replace it there.

You can read my other post that I started yesterday named very scare of the dealer . Botton line, I removed my car from the dealer this morning because they want to make me do a whole bunch of other things that my car did not needed and they said it was under the 10 k mile warranty regular sheduled maintenance.

Also, I forgot to mention that the dealer was willing to do an aftermarket clutch labor, no problems there..

I have to wait one more week(until Sunday) so that Ray can install my clutch.

How can none of you guys run a 12.0 on pump gas? I ran a 12.09 at 115 on pump gas maybe a year or two?? ago in my 2003. What's the big deal? Stock turbo and stock clutch. 1.66 60'. 20 psi and a TT tune, cams, exhaust, intake. That's it! 330 or so on pump, 360 on race gas at 24psi.... What are your 60' times?

Oh wow. When I called the dealer (Tempe Mitsubishi) for a quote, the service manager I talked to wouldn't even quote me for the job. Instead I had to ask for the "hourly rate" and what they charged per hour to gauge how much they "would have" charged me. I would never take my car there, I just wanted a damn quote! I'm almost glad my car is out of warranty. It means I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to go to the dealer to have work done on my car.

From what I hear Ray is the best for a clutch install in Tucson.

Pump 93 at ~sealevel, right? We're at 1200 feet here, and we've only 91 octane at the pump. Not quite as easy.
