275 hp spinning off the line?
flevo8 - please write (or post) your time slips. And what RPM where you shifting at?
Basically, sounds like you dont have launching down yet. And may be shifting too high (out of the powerband). Which is fine - just need some more seat time. 2x down the track is not enough to get it right.
When playing with tire pressure - its best to only go in +/- 2 psi at a time. Look to your 60' for where to go on that and also feel. Too much grip or too little air can have negative results.
Could also have been track prep. I have experienced this on tracks that are heavily prepped for high hp rwd (tiretack). I spun, got stuck in the velcro, bogged.
5500 should be ok. I use the stock 5k and my best 60' is 1.61, usually I am around 1.62-1.65.
EDIT: Here is a link to my 2step tech.

Hey thanks for that 2step link
If you have not done it yet, and SS clutch line with no restrictor pill would be advisable. Should give you more cosistent feel with the engagement and removing the pill won't restrict the fluid.
i have done multiple 7000rpm launches with my stock clutch i dont dump it just release it very fast with my foot on the pedal and nothing has happened spining the tires is good for the drivetrian you dont damage it here is a video of japanese launch the evos:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBka-8ViOEU
in my opinion i wouldnt remove the restrictor pill it protects your transfercase just run a bit more air in the tires and launch higher at 6500rpms i think this will lower your times!

i didnt know this was at bradenton...... thats a really good track... with my car and a 6k launch i barely spin....
idk..... i think you might be burning clutch, not tires

Thanks for all the replies, I'll try to find one of my times later but they were in the mid-high 14's. like 2-2.1 60' times :/
I absolutely do not have my launch or shifting technique mastered, but I was still very surprised to be spinning like that.
It was at the Bradenton track in Florida if anyones familiar. There were 2 other evo's there that day and a couple STi's and nobody else really seemed to have an issue.
On the second pass I had the car at 5600 RPM (boost gauge bouncing between 5-8 psi) pulled my foot straight off the clutch quickly and I thought my clutch slipped because of the way the RPM's went, so I probably did take my foot off the gas a little too much. It wasn't until I talked to some friends afterwards that they told me I was spinning the front wheels.
Can't wait to get back out there and try again.
