Launches are not at peak torque either. The first place it will slip will be in top gear at full boost. That's the MOST load you can produce.

What do you think it was then? I can clearly remember letting the clutch out at launch, rpms dropped, started accelerating and just held 6k for an instant then started acclerating again. It did the 6k thing in all gears, almost like you hit the brakes with the gas floored. Mind you this was after 2 hours of driving up, less than 45 minutes of cool down. The 6 gear test was after the car sat for 4 hours.

I don't know. I've never heard of such a phenomenon, but when the clutch slips, the rpms don't stay where they are - they shoot up when the clutch slips then fall back down. Maybe you mean to say that at 6k rpm the car held, you mean it stopped accelerating and you didn't notice the rpms shot up? That's the only way it could be the clutch slipping, but even that would be weird, because if it's going to slip, it's going to slip at LOWER rpms first.

I dunno Clay. I can remember looking down because it just held at 6k. I was like WTF? Normally I don't look down at the tach on the 1-2 shift as it comes fast and I just have a feel/hear when it comes, so I specifically know it happened as described?? I will try a launch on the street tommorow and see if I can duplicate the results. I know a clutch is needed regardless, but if there is some other problem I want to fix it as well.

if you have your logs from the pass check the rpm on a graph...

if the clutch was slipping you will notice a rapid increase of your rpm and then when the clutch grabs you will see your rpm falling maybe and then increasing again more linear...

also if the car was slipping bad you must have heard the engine accelerating funny...like driving an automatic car or a scooter... at least thats how mine did at my last track visit...

ohh, also it should have smelled if it slipped during the pass... you would definitely remember the smell after passing the finish line and coasting...

No log on the pass. It did smell though now that you mention it. Forgot about that.
