1/4 mile ET and speed WITHOUT launch??
1/4 mile ET and speed WITHOUT launch??
I've searched already, but can seem to find a definative answer. What kind of ET and trap speed would one be looking at with an EVO if there was no hard launch. Basically thinking of 3000 rpm max launch with no slipping in order to preserve the clutch. I certainly understand that this will not be the fastest way to launch the car, but will give me a better idea of what the 'realistic' performance is. Has anyone tried something similar?
NOTE: I am not a drag racer and realize the EVO is not really a drag car.
Thanks

I think I heard it said somewhere that you can expect a high 13 with a slight launch or low 14 if you don't launch at all. I don't remember what the trap times were, but I would guess it's around 100mph. Of course your trap speeds wouldn't change much if you launch hard or not, it's your time that will suffer.
I think a low 14 with no launch is optimistic. Try a high 14 at best to a low 15. Moderate launch is low 14s and 13s with a decent hard launch. GTECH tested by a friend with a clutch that slips terribly when the car is launched. 3000 rpm bog will get you to 60mph in well over 6 sec and that will kill your time. This is why Evos lose to lesser cars. Bad technique on the launch and clutches that can't handle a hard launch.Clutch will spin and the car goes nowhere. Do the math it all depends on how fast you want to get to sixty. 5 sec= 13.5 ish 6sec =14.5ish 7sec =15.5ish. Just an estimate but a friend with Gtech has experimented.
Yes you are correct I roll out of the box and then I jump on it. My 60' was between a 2.0 - 2.2. In Florida humidity it kind of sucks goin to the track. I cant wait to go now with my dynoflashed car.
