Is it street friendly or is it a pita to drive?

Yes sirr! Its that one. They make a street version and the difference is the Flywheel i believe. Its not bad to drive on the street. Its honestly a lot easy and quieter then the previous ones
Hey Joey what do the logs say you are trying to shift to 2nd gear at?
Seems pretty common to have issues with the syncro'd trans when above 9000 rpm i know Fathouse has had his share of issues and is now running a dogbox.
Haven't had any experience with the QM V2 but i'd guess that the slipping needed for street action is causing the floater plate and/or discs to get pissed enough to not want to help the trans shift properly.
Lmk how your synchro and the rest of the parts in the trans look when you tear it down

Yea i remember fat house having problems also. A buddy of mine has the same issue. Its just like you said the floated plates get pissed and it does not want to go into gear. I have to shift easy and not slam it for it to go into gear. The last past of the day on Sunday, car came out great, tried slamming 2nd gear and boom got locked out.
Were going to pull the trans and take a look at the clutch and go from there. I honestly think its the clutch. I have a decent amount of passes on it and drove it a lot on the street. Not to mention 3 trips to the Dyno. I think with a fresh clutch it will be okay for awhile. But since the trans is down, we might re freshin it. Ill keep ya updated man on whats the deal
. Well at least I got a good picture

Plus, if the tires are spinning when trying to shift, it makes it even worse. I was having the same issue last year with my Talon and figured out a way to set up 2 different rev limiters on the AEM EMS. One limiter in Joey's car I have set to 9000 rpm, which is good to 120 mph. The other limiter is set to 9400 rpm above 120 mph, so Joey can trap the car in 4th gear. This helps out a lot but after you miss the gear a couple of times hard, the synch springs get damaged.
This is what I did with my Talon but it would only shift nice for a couple track days. I would replace the synchs every third track days. I put a dogbox in my Talon because of this, and have had no issues

Thats exactly the problem - too much RPM for the second gear shift. Above 9K the OEM gear-set transmissions do not like to shift.

I'm slowly collecting synchros, hub sliders, springs, 2nd gears, and forks from beating on my trans at the track!
I like the idea of setting up the 2 different rev limiters i think i will try that out when the car gets back on to an AEM in a couple of weeks.
I just can't stomach the price of the dogbox.......for now at least.
BTW i'm not sure if i missed a call from you or not i'm not too good at answering out of area calls when i see them on my cell
I think were going to get back to the track Thursday night! At one of our local tracks they have a slick only night. Looks like its going to be no rain and a lot cooler then Sunday when it was 95 degrees lol. I believe Devin and the Red Demon will be there also. I wanna get one more track day in before i decide on what to do with the trans and clutch. This is the same track i went 9.1
I know i need to re fresh the clutch because of the lock out issues but im going to try 1 more day to see. Ill keep everyone updated!

Exactly!! Dan (Bushwacker Trans) and I talked today. And I'll qoute him saying "There is a big difference between a 11 sec trans vs an 8-9 sec trans." Any syncro based gear set we will run is going to get tore up very fast at the power levels they have got too.
I have decided just to fix my 4th gear syncro and shift fork and not to worry about the rest even though it was starting to show signs of wear. Over the winter I think I will man up and buy a dog box.

Cant wait for the shootout guys, a couple more weeks
damn, all you guys have me scared. i'm running a 10.5:1 2.0ltr from GSC running an HTA3794 at 40psi so I'll be right there with you guys. I'm seriously considering staying away from the track for a long time. I really don't want to buy a dogbox.
I have been having 2nd gear lockout issues also. Same clutch but im thinking its more of a synchro issue. I have missed 2nd a couple times and im pretty sure the synchro is beat.
I think im going to convert to auto. Shift fast, go fast.

Auto? like dogbox with air shifter or like a 2g built auto?
