First Time taking my evo to the track any tips?

I am kinda a noob to the strip I have only been there a few times with my fwd neon DD and I was wondering what tips you guys might have in laying down some decent times. My evo is completly stock with stock sized brand new hankook ventus EVO V12 summer tires. A local who runs her evo suggested taking out the airfilter in the airbox and bending in the mirrors. I am most concerned on getting off the line. What do you guys reccomend? Should I be reving up and dumping the clutch or should I be just starting as if I am normally driving and just roll and then lay on the power? Any suggestions for the noob would be awesome thanks guys.

You'll want to slip the clutch at high RPM. The driving techniques thread will explain more and I wouldn't recommend removing the air filter. Turbos spin over 100,000 RPM and even little debris can cause a bent fin on the compressor wheel.

my first time at the track wasn't too bad. I wasn't expecting much but I think i did pretty well. Raif gave me some tips lol didn't know I even had a 2-step in the car. the only thing is that it is programed at 5K which is a little too low for a good launch.

I ran a 13.646@100.67 with a 1.987 60' and .836 reaction time. I got about 8-9 runs in. It was very fun.

Thats pretty good for your first time out in the car! Theres quite a bit to gain in the 60ft times, that all comes with practice though.

Your reaction times don't mean anything. Your times don't.start until you cross the start/stop line. I launch off a 5k rev limited and have cut a 1.65 60ft. Set.it any higher and you can possibly spin more than you want.

When you stage up Ebrake...inch forward and hold ebrake...when the light turns yellow pedal to the medal. When the light turns green pop the clutch a 1/4 of the way and slowly release the rest of the way. This gives me low 1.6 60's on street tires. Pro tree is completely different story but for now you dont have to worry bout that. If you want to know more PM me. I'll give you detailed information on 1-4 shifts based on my experience.

hold the e brake up when the second light comes on. start bringing the clutch up to where its about to catch. if your free reving you want to leave at about 5500 rpm. slip the clutch out while putting the e break down at the same time. dont dump the clutch but try not to burn it either. your gonna smell clutch but its normal specially if its a single disk just try not to burn it up at the line. it sounds like alot but its really not. after a few passes you should be okay. good luck
