Shift Points...
Shift Points...
You read the title, now, when do you shift in which gear? With what mods?
Anyone actually done the dyno research on their mods to know where their powerband in each gear is? How about with just a stock Evo?
Thanks!

i know for sure my Evo ran a good bit slower trap speed by overreving it.... i was switching at 7600rpm or so and trapped at about 98mph...... switching at 7000 got me 13.409@ 102mph......totally stock
Is there an advantage to shifting at different points in different gears? I ran a 12.97@105 shifting at 7800k in every gear. Would I go faster maybe if I shifted sooner than that? I know torque drops significantly at higer rpms, but I would think that holding the lower gear ratio for longer would out-benefit the extra tq of a lower rpm. What do the pro's shift at? Al has as many passes as anybody, has he experimented with shift points?
The point here is that the optimal powerband is in a certain RPM range. The powerband can differ by gear. Shifting from a gear drops to a different RPM based on the gear ratio. Putting all of this info together, if anyone has done this amount of work, will tell the OPTIMAL shift points based on THEIR mods... that's what I'm askin' about!
Clear as mud, right? =)

This is one reason I am having issues over running my gears since my peak hp is so close to my 7800 rpm rev limiter in my A4.
When I ran smogrunners stage 1+ I shifted right around 7200 rpms.
