I shouldn't be concerned with the sweet coolant smell than either?

its just that new car, engine break in smell. If you let your friend roast your clutch then you are smelling clutch. Just dont try to launch your car if you dont know how and the new engine smell wont last beyond 2000 mile or so.

Take this one seriously. My father had an odd odor from his Diamante (with over 250k miles and still going) and when i looked at it I saw he had ran over what looked to be a mulch bag.

I have almost 9000 on my Evo IX and I notice the smell of the engine most all the time after I park in my garage. I know for a fact that it's not clutch because I used to smell clutch when I learned stick on a Lancer Ralliart. I think it's just the combination of the engine being hot, the brakes being hot, and tons of other things.

Granted, a scent could be bad, it's not necessarily something bad. My personal belief is that you'll "just know" when the smell is burning clutch.

Your clutch should always be in one of two places. Fully engaged or fully disengaged. Never drive with the pedal somewhere in the middle. Try that out and there should be no more burnt clutch.
