I had my completely standard Evo dynoed recently and it recorded 125.5kw at the wheels. Since they are quoted as having 206kw, that would make it about a 40% loss.
Unless of course I've got a problem I don't know about.

i think you have a problem... here in the states the wrx has 227hp at the wheels and its only susposed to have a 24% loss... just a rumor, but 40% is way to much of a loss. im not sure about the evo's in au though.

trev555's EVO engine might not be performing at its 100% capacity. That might due to age, gas, condition of the engine and the car (wear in drivetrain parts might cause a problem too).

Yeah, I've read to approximate a 35% drivetrain loss for AWD cars. Of course that's just from reading...no personal experience or formulas to back it up. 

Does any one company/manuf. claim to have a more efficient AWD system than another?
If someone could make an AWD drivetrain with less loss and a powerful engine to put in front of it then they'd have a nice little thing going for em.
On a related note, what's approx drivetrain loss for RWD? I've been told to expect 10-12% on FWD and heard RWD was slightly less efficient but never seen any ballpark numbers.

FWD is better than RWD in the powerloss just because it doesnt have to be converted in the axle its just right there, but i think its only 12% FWD is less than 10%.
