The ecu is really simple to remove, pack, ship, and install. It took all of 15 minutes to disconnect the battery, remove the glove box, which might be the trickest part. There is a square plastic plug that you need to pop off on the inside upper left of the glove box. Then unplug the 4 plastic wire blocks, unscrew the 3 bolts, ur done. If I can do this I think a smart monkey could!!!!
First thing I noticed was how smooth my car felt, After getting it warmed up a bit, I got into it,,,, HEHEHE goodbye 5k fall on your face boost drop! This is one thing I dreaded about the evo the Frickin' boost drop. Also the car pulls like it wants to RUN now in the upper rpm's. Punch the gas at 4,5k rpm and it feels like the inital boost at 3.3k!!!!! Pretty much I like it alot.
We will see how the Exhale works with this next week. I went with the Dynoflash for a few reasons over the WORKS flash. The first being not having to jack with the New boost hose, Second all the positive remarks from people that have the DynoFlash, (Works has theirs also), and Third his was about half the price, which isnt a big deal with me really. With the difference in the way the car feels now, it could have a $750 price for its little Magic it does.
So all in all you can drop $200 at the 21 table in 4 minutes, or send your ECU into Al and have a 1/3 newer car than you do now.
92 reflash (as far as I know) : )
Thanks Al,

Thanks Al,
One of the most important points for me is VALUE of the product
Basically - most of you know that I feel reflashes or piggy backs like an Exede or what ever through the mail are AT BEST a trade off and compromise. Custom individual tuning is the only way to go.
Anytime you do a through the mail tune you must introduce a significant margin of safety which renders the end result a trade off.
Although our through the mail flash does yeild some amazing results - we have seen up to 40 whp gains in individual cars - and it does really make the power band smoother - its not something I could sell for $500.00 and feel good about myself.
I think the usual price of $225.00 for the through the mail flash is a fair price and provides an excelent value for the $, while giving real world performance increases that ANYONE can feel by the seat of the pants and which the 1/4 time slip will show with at least 3 mph gains in 1/4 trap speeds.
Of course, I would be more confortable doing custom tuning on each and every evo to make sure the tune is optimized to the individual car and check all functions. However, logistically it is not possible for every one to come to us and also there are many people who can not afford to pay that kind of money - $595.00.
Finally - I think I am the ONLY evo tuner at this point who is willing to tune your car for ANY set of modifications you may have. I have worked with just about every possible combination fo evo parts you could imagine and we have a huge library of base maps to work with. We DO NOT sell intakes and exhausts so there is no motivation on our part to steer you into our "upgrade path" and restrict you to buying our parts - especially when we all know that companies liek HKS and Buschur Racing make the best evo parts you can buy.
Thanks again and enjoy the product !
Hi Al,
I am going to try to get my ECU out this weekend and send it to you on Monday. I checked your site, but seemed to miss the address to FedEx (or UPS??) the unit to? Would you mind posting it?
I will include the list of my mods with the package, but here they are anyway:
Perrin 3’catback
Perrin cat delete w/02 simulator
HKS SSQV BOV re-circulating like stock
Turbonetics MBC running currently set for approximately 20psi
K&N panel replacement
I would like it tuned so that I could bump the boost up to 21 safely if I want. We typically only have 92 octane around these parts.
Please do remove the fuel/boost cut and rev limiter to whatever you think is reasonable and remove top speed limiter. Please remove the stock boost taper too, even though I am using the MBC right now, I may take it off sometimes. I don't think I will be doing much more to up the power at this point... I know... famous last words!
Can't wait to get this done & installed!
TIA,
Jason

I DO NOT recomend 21 psi - I tune for 20.5 psi
Unless you have access to a wideband o2 sensor to verify a/f's some cars run lean after 20.5 psi and will need a fuel pump and / or injectors or a fuel pressure adjustment in order to flow enough fuel to support the kind of power you CAN be making at that psi level
MOST evos can do 21 or 22 psi on the stock pump and injectors - BUT was have seen some dyno flashed cars on that boost level making over 300 whp and running 100% duty cycle on the injectors
I suggest you start at 19 psi and then turn it to 20 psi and make sure it feels smooth - 20.5 psi si the most we recomend through the mail
I have to say on my last Evo I had Al personally road tuned it and all I can say is WOW!. I had the HKS downpipe,3 inch high flow cat and RMR catback and Forge Dv and K&N drop in filter. My car went from237.8 at the wheels to around 290. My car was so much smoother and had no drop off in power above 5k. By far the best modification I did for my Evo. I highly recommend DynoFlash and Al stands by his word for anyone he deals with. Another guy that was with me the same day had some bad gas and did not get the results he expected and Al offered to re-tune him for free. You cant beat that for customer service!! Bottom line is he stands by his word.

I've had my mail in Dynoflash for a couple days now.
I'm impressed. I bypassed my dyno-tuned HKS S-AFR, as per Allan's recom.
This thing is hitting hard! Pulls strong and smooth all the way to my new redline of 7900!
I cranked the boost up to 20.5.
1st and 2nd gear break the wheels loose!
I'm planning on fine tuning the fuel controller to 11.0, (Allan's recom. a/f ratio).
It cost me $240 for flash and overnight both ways.
Def. the most bang-4-buck
He's also all about customer satisfaction, free re-flash if unhappy. Called my house too!
thanks

Is 7900 rpm safe ?
What do you mean "I cranked the boost up to 20.5" ?
Do you have an additional boost controller ?
Or is this additional boost due to the more agressive Dynotune ?
Seriously you can break the tires loose from a rolling start now ?
Or are you complete stopped and are sidestepping the clutch ?
bishiboy ... please respond because I am seriously thinking about getting the Dynoflash myself asap.

What happens is with a reflash you really just hit the 7606 stock red line so often its annoying - the power band is just so much stronger up to 7,000 its easy to hit 7606 so we move it a bit
We have not heard of any failures on our tuned cars with 7800 rpms red line - I know works uses 7850 in their reflash and there are no reports of failures there either
If you are particularly concerned - we can always reflash it to add the power and leave the 7606 red line in (not a popular option at all)
I am fairly sure this user has a boost controller
And yes many of our customers wind up busting 1st and 2nd gear loose becuase the trq hits very hard on my tune
Here is today's dyno sheet - JUST a Buschur 3" exhuast and a boost controller with my flash
PS - the sale price of $199.99 shipped is good till 12/23/03
Al,
Do you recommend the HKS 264 or 272, 269s, or the 264 JUNs? I have a 3 inch TBE, Walbro 255, and ARP head studs. I am also planning on getting ~650 injectors. If you ask me what my goals are on my EVO, all I can say is I am sticking with the stock 16G and ECU. I am also considering a new valvetrain for maybe a 8500 - 9000 redline if the stock rods can handle it.
I am debating on the water injection with the reflsh or just go gung-ho and have my mods with your reflash. I wish I can have you tune my car, but you are so far away.
You can PM me your response if you like. Thanks man.

If you are going stand alone try the Jun 264 for decent power
And the JUn 272 if your building a race car
I would never rev the stock rods past 8,000 -(they have holes in them - the wrist pins are weak and the pistons start to colapse when you go that hard)
I suggest 7800 on stock rods
I will be visiting AMS in the spring - if you can wait that long
