it also depends if he tuned it on the street or the dyno. dont forget on the dyno you have access to a a/f meter whereas on the street you dont (most likely, unless you spend the crazy cash for a wide band o2 sensor)

I gained crazy number from a custom tune on the dyno when compared to my mail order custom WORKS P2 (and what i mean by a custom WORKS P2, is, i was spikin to 26 so i installed a hallman prox mbc)

and this was the result:

so as supercharged said.. it all depends on how efficient ur car is to start with.. maybe how efficient ur boltons are too... ur rolling a dice when it comes to custom, no guarantee for great results compared to off-the-shelf... well its a testament to how good Al's off-the-shelf ecu's are

Custom tune is when he reflashs your ecu like the off-the-shelf, but tunes it on the spot for extra power. Unfortunately my car only produced 1whp extra when custom tweaked, so im not sure if it was worth it. Other people saw big difference of like 10 whp compared to just the off-the-shelf ecu. So it really depends on how well you did on your base run (whatever mods you have minus any ecu reflash)
Agreed 100% - actually I am getting so good at the picking of base maps for various mods that sometimes we get it dead on the 1st try. In that case the tuning is more of a saftey and verification session to rule out any possible dangerous conditions. Finally the calibrations sent out through the mail are always slightly detuned for a margin of error - when we have it on the dyno we give you the full strength base files.

Smile Pleased with tune but.....

Al,

Thanks for the fast turn around on my tune! Even with a snow blizzard you were able to get it back to me quickly. The tune feels good. The throttle response is better and it feels faster. I now need to dyno it to get the real picture. The only thing I am not happy with is my Buschur intake I got with the tune. We had a heavy rain storm and I got caught in it. I could tell I took in some water as it was affecting the performance. I think I would like to return to the stock air box and use the K&N drop in. Would my tune still work with that setup (stock airbox and K&N) or is there some kind of shield that might work with that intake filter (Buschur)? Just to refresh your memory I only have a Buschur Turbo back with high flow cat and the intake. Thanks again and I look forward to your response.

Just send the ecu back in and I will re-flash you for the k & N drop in and IF you paid for the Buschur filter I will refund your money on that - - if you didn't pay you will find many people who will gladly buy a slightly used one !

I'd like more testimony on the SAFC to mail in dynoflash upgrade gains from more of you guys that have done it.

Also, any quarter mile times? I trapped 107 with an SAFC, BR intake, BR muffler delete pipe, and a Pruven test pipe. I have since replaced the exhaust components with a BR Magnaflow 3" TBE. Anyone hit 110-111mph with a Fireball dynoflash tune, conical filter, and exhaust, or is that a bit optimistic?

Keep up the good work; this thread is a good testimony to lots of satisfied customers!

Reflash

Well I became real lucky this past Saturday. Al came to Houston TX and had appointments with several guys to flash their cars. He fit me in the middle and worked for a couple of hours to get mine just right. I have all Buschur parts, but no cams or new cooler yet. I do have bigger injectors and upgraded fuel pump. I have been trying since putting in the injectors to get my car to run right, but the SAFC is not enough. Since Al did his thing my car runs better than it ever has. The power comes up smooth all the way to redline. The best part was I raced a guy that did have the cams and he was in the dust until top end. Thanks Al........she is a joy to drive.

This guy's set up shows me the same thing I see time and time again, - the super inteligent, profession and mature Evo owners go with Buschur and they get a car which runs almost like a stock car only with an extra 100 whp added on top !

Great to meet you and thanks for the business - now I have a great base map for Buschur Flash with the BR stage 2 and the bigger injectors !

Al Does It Again!!!

Well any of you that read my post on the problems I was having with my car making power and the problems I was having, well they have since come to an end all thanks to Al at Dynoflash. I did the mail in flash and my car is absolutely unbelievable. The power band is raw smooth power throughout all RPM's. I would highly suggest Dynoflash to anyone that does not have it. Al practices excellent customer service and is really a GREAT guy!!! Shipping was fast and on time just like he promised. He gets not two but from me!! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING AL YOU ARE THE P.I.M.P of reflash.....
