Here are my planned upgrades:

RNR Racing 3" 02 elim HKS Carbon/TI Turboback
HKS 264 int/exh cams
720 injectors
Apex-i intake
Blitz SBC-iD or Buschur MBC (Blitz is $$$!)
Upgraded fuel pump
and possibly Buschur Mass Air Pipe upgrade

What should I be looking at HP and reliability wise? And does the Air pipe upgrade cause probs with ECU, or can you fix that with a dyno. I live in Maryland and would be doing this in the spring (if you are available?).

Hey Al, just wanted to let you know I got my ECU christmas eve day, I was to busy to put it on that day with the usual christmas eve crazyness. But I ended up putting it back together at around 1am. All I can say was WOW, what a difference in the top end as far as power goes...I do notice a increase in throughout the power band, and when you get close to the redline you can really hear the K&N drop filter suck as much air as possible!
Also, for all of you out there, my experience with Al and his customer service was top notch. Well Al, just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy my new car! What a difference!!!
Oh, and it was funny as hell listening you talk about the guys at Fed Ex!

For others out there, my flash was 92octane and a K&N drop in filter. Thanks again

I traveled to Biloxi, MS to meet with Al and take advantage of his mail tune and filter special. Al was a cool dude to work with. He uploaded the mail tune and it was night and day after 5k rpms. He tried two other maps as well. He ended up uploading a custom tune he did for a customer with the same mod as me (HKS HiPower catback).

When we were done his 2 o'clock appt was waiting in the parking lot and he asked me if it was worth it...I told him "it was worth every penny" The guy with the yellow evo then wanted to do a little highway romp. His mods: Buschur 3" turboback and DIY grounding kit

We went from a 60 roll in third gear. I let Al catch the jump on me until my front bumper hit his rear tires. I reeled him in on third gear and when we both hit fourth I was pulling away from the yellow evo.

Dynoflash is definately worth the money!!! After 5k the car is a completely different beast, boost taper isn't as bad and the powerband is a lot smoother. I'm glad I made the trip out. Thanks Al!!!

Is there a point in getting a separate boost controller if Dynoflash sets your boost settings and can take off the boost taper?

Stock boost levels are retained with the reflash. Al just eliminates the code which pulls boost on the top end.

So does it hold boost to redline? Cuz that's all I'm looking for.

No, it does not. What it does is hold the boost a bit longer than stock and the taper is "better".
This is why you need a MBC or EBC to hold set boost to redline.

If you could answer this Al, that would be great. Thank You

I got my mail-in Dynoflash installed Friday. I'm pretty happy so far. I got the 93 octane, with K&N Drop In filter calibration.

I think people here overhyped this one a little bit. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the results, and I think it was a steal for $200 (Xmas special), but it's not like driving a whole new car. I compare it to about the same impact as putting an MBC (set at 16psi) on my stock WRX... maybe a bit more improvement. The car holds boost much better now. The peak power might be a tad higher, but it's hard to tell. The big improvement is that the boost is held (as much as the turbo can manage) up to redline, so where the car fell flat on it's face at 6K before, now it's good up to the new 7800 rpm redline.

Speaking of that 7800rpm redline... the engine seems pretty thrashy about about 7400, so I'm a bit scared of going so high.

On the street, this probably won't make much difference to me, but at the track, I think the extra, usable top-end power and higher rev limit will make a really big impact.

Overall, I'm very happy with this upgrade, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I'm having some minor concerns about the boost level jumping around (see other post I made in this forum), but that may be completely normal or unrelated.

Also, in the sake of fairness, the K&N drop in filter I ordered hasn't arrived yet, so I'm still using the stock filter. Maybe I'll notice even more improvement after that is installed.

Rob

Good observations. It's good to hear a voice not overcome with the placebo effect. You are right that the Dynoflash is a very good mod and a great buy, but it's definitely not as dramatic as some might expect. OTOH, very few mods are.... I remember that even going from NA to forced induction in my Miatas was not as dramatic as I expected (OK, maybe I have very high expectations )

I noticed the same thing thing too. I wonder if you are getting severe knocking or noise that's retarding the timing? Some engines (apparently mine ) are quite noisy, Additionally, these cars are extremely sensitive to bad gasoline......

I agree with your assesment. Good post. I do think though, that the K&N will not produce any noticeable improvements unless your butt dyno is extremely sensitive

Rob, from what I have read about different reflashed ecu's,Shiv's- Works, alot of people get boost pikes.

And also Al, after I put on my axel back I have noticed alot of black grit on it? Is my dynoflash too rich? And is there anyway i can have my air to fuel ratio checked out, and maybe have you reflash it if it is too rich?

I can take my finger and wipe a good portion of the black grime off inside the exhaust tip. And also on the outside of the tip there is alot of black. I wipe it off one day and it is back the next.
Is this bad for my car?

Thanks for your imput Al!!!!!!

If anyone else had a 300ZXTT out there, I would measure this improvement to be a little less than half of what I saw when I installed the JWT intake and ECU (and raised boost from 9.5psi up to 14.5psi). Now THAT was a whole new car. But it also cost $650 and added 80HP (@ the crank).

Unfortunately, I agree that the K&N drop-in will probably do nothing (that I can feel). But I got it for $40 (used) on ebay. I'm hoping it might add a little more induction noise (which is already pretty awesome, even on a stock EVO)

Thanks for your comments.

I'm pretty sure Buschur uses the Hallman evolution RX on their Evo.

I had a 300zxTT that was completely stock. I had driven a JWT modified Z and the difference was completely night and day compare to my stock TT. The modded Z was a beast on the highway.

I am a little disapointed with the top end pull of my stock EVO and am hoping the Dynoflash will correct this problem.
I am pretty interested to see what your outcome is.
