I think I can tune my car to work correctly with the intake. I'm currently using a piggyback ecu with a 3D map. I have the ability to adjust my timing if needed.

I installed by stock intake back and it does hold the boost !!

Hey Al;

You re-flashed my ecu with the typhoon intake, do you need to re-flash back to stock intake? Probably not, but I just want to make sure I don't run into any problem down the road.

Thanks
Alvin

I think we have enough guys here - now we need a volunteer to print this thread out and fax it over to K & N and see what they can do to help us resolve the mystery

No, the K&N panel filter is less restictive than the stock filters period. It will only help flow.

What piggyback are you using? Street tune or what?

I also have the typhoon system but I have had no problems at all with it. Runs perfect and pulls hard. But the difference between mine and yours could be because I run a EBC so the recirculating nipple on the intake is plugged up as well as the one going to the head. I am not sure if that would be the difference but I definitely don't have any issues with this intake...

I had problems with the intake kit also. I called K&N tech. line, their tech. guy said flip the MAF over ,turn it 180, and reinstall. also disconnect ground for 5 min. to let ecu reset . My car runs great again !

I am interested in buying one cheap to use for testing. Anyone looking to sell, please send me a PM with the price they want.

Here is an email I sent this morning to K&N with a link to this thread in it. I'll let you know what responce I get.

I'm not sure if you guys are aware of this, but I thought I would pass it on. You have many unhappy EVO owners that purchased your Typhoon intake only to have their car's performance worsen.

Here is the link to a discussion thread on EvolutionM.net https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...6&page=1&pp=15
There are over 20,000 registered users on EvolutionM.net. Unfortunately, your product and follow up support have been a sore subject for many members.

Thanks,

Actually rotating the sensor "Might" help.. If the turbulence/issues are caused by turbulence or slow airflow through one portion of the MAF, rotating it will likely help..

Now, the only thing I'm not certain about is if there are issues about rotating it, that is, is there really a reason "This side is up" from what I can tell orientation doesn't appear to hurt the sensor and it really cant hurt to try it.
