Beware Dynoflash Is A Ripoff
I got dynoflashed the day of the meet too. To be honest I too am not too impressed at all with Al or his service.
First off, he was very unprofessional about it and was *****ing to me about how tired he was and about other peoples cars and stuff. I didn't force you to come and tune and I dont need to be complained at. I am paying you to custom tune my car.
Then he tells me that the O2 sensor he is using is on its way out and he will be replacing it because it has been used alot. The A/F ratio was showing a very solid 11:1 but if the O2 sensor we are using is not reading correctly this may not be what the actual A/F is. He only spends about 30 mins of tuning and makes less then 5 adjustments to a map that worked well on someone elses car and is done. The adjustments he tells me are just to pull timing and he says that its bad because it will not make as much power. Again this doesn't leave me feeling great.
The car honestly didn't feel much better then the mail in flash and seems to be running as rich.
I am not nessesarily saying that the tune is bad, horever without a dyno its hard to tell. How much does XS charge to use the dyno anyways? Id love to see what my powerband and A/F ratios and boost curve look like.
One thing is for sure, the tune is smooth and I haven't had any problems like stalling. My gas milage however is crap even if I use a light foot, again, it seems too rich to me.

Hmm, dunno what to say. I've got a Dynoflash/BuschurFlash for my BR Stg 3 and it rips the hell out of any car with less than 400 stock horsepower. I've had a guy with a 993TT and another guy in a 2004 AMG E55 ask me what the heck I was running under the hood after they couldn't walk away from me on the straights at the track. The local guys running around in Ford Lightnings and Camaro SS don't even want to look at me after I forcefully show them my tail lights.
This sounds like a major failure to communicate. Neither of you is going to come out of this smelling like anything other than ****. If you wanted a real flame-fest how come you didn't post in the Dynoflash forum?

I'd like to see this dyno that measures crank HP, unless of course you removed your engine (which i doubt!). Another worthless thread attacking one tuner, if it's not Shiv then Al...who's the next lucky one.
the common numbers for a stock evo on 93 is roughly 230-240 to the wheels. i was running 93. Also i took the fuel pump out shortly after i got rid of the flash and the car is much faster, by feel and the times i get at the track as well as the times i get from my hks-type 1. Dont trust the "feel" of the dynoflash as its mostly in ur head. go get it dynoed as i did and you too will find out that the flash = crap. I raced my car all the time against evos and the clock before and after my flash. My car was quick before the flash.
Just a dumb question, why was your boost 4psi lower if you have an MBC? (what I thought I read)
4psi is a significant difference..
Oh, if you plan on taking this to court, I suggest you don't post too much here on the forum, its not a good idea to disclose too much information.
I wonder if there are some other environmental conditions or even your motor is extremely knock prone?
Well, I wish you the best of luck in resolving your issues..

I was under the impression a stock Evo got about 220HP to the wheels, which would be consistent with the stock numbers of 271HP to the crank and a typical AWD drivetrain percentage loss. What you're suggesting is that while crank horsepower was down 1HP (and how did you measure that?), your WHP is up 21HP, which is only an 11% drivetrain loss, a little unrealistic.
Anyway, if this isn't a typo, then it's possible you and Al aren't connecting because your numbers don't make sense... If I were him hearing those numbers, and I don't even know Evos that well, I'd assume you were trying to play him a fool. Now that's not saying he shouldn't honor his guarantee, but still, having done customer service types of activities before, the last thing I usually want to do is be nice to people who aren't rational.

also with XS dyno they have uncorrected hp which measures it at the fly, thats how he has those #'s.
anyone who has ever talked to Al knows hes an a-hole. Dont believe me, TALK TO HIM. u will get the feeling right away.
ill have the charts up in 2 hrs so u can see for urselves. If u have doubts about the readings u can call xs engineering and ask them urself.

I think the culprit is you're boost dropping. If you are getting 5psi of boost drop your hp #'s will most definitely be low. Your mbc or bov may be going bad. There is no way the Dynoflash is causing a 4.5psi drop in boost. I have a Dynoflash and was getting some boost drop (about 3psi). I was pretty sure it was either the stock bov or the mbc. I replaced my mbc and I am now getting a steady 20 psi..without any dropping.
There aren't very many unhappy Dynoflash customers. I know I'm happy with mine...
BTW, I don't think Al can reply to this post because it is in "Evo general" forum....I think he can still only reply to posts in the Dynoflash forum. Maybe a mod should move it there
