I'm baffled. I have no idea how boost taper can be caused by the tune if the engine is spinning above the turbo's boost threshold. I mean, I can see how lag and boost threshold could be affected but not boost taper. In my very limited experience boost taper is caused by a leaking MBC, BPV, piping or something along those lines.

Al, Shiv, Dave, Turbotrix... can somebody explain how this would happen?

maybe the boost is tapering because the ECU is tripping out and think the car is overboosting? and cutting into safe mode? That could be one reason? Or another reason maybe incorrect boost controller? a few more reasons that could be quantified but the other tuners may have a better understanding.

This is some of the info that I tried to hint at in one of my several deleted posts when Evo8powa attacked me and said Al ruled all tuners. I was there and witnessed this with my own eyes. I did not come on and attack Al but FWIW I was there and I remember Al saying how smooth the curve on the chart was etc. I thought he said that you could get your money back only through pay-pal or something like that. Funny how cars with less mods were making 30+ more whp on the dyno. BTW I have alot more dirt on a couple tuners so keep on pi$$ing me off Evo8powa and others and i will eventually tell more.

Who the *** are you talking about? you do realize we are talking about Al Freidman from Dynoflash right? When my friend and third referal i sent to Al called him to set up a appointment for a tune here in LA. Al told him Sunday 9am at the woodland hills Hilton. AL WAS NOT GOING TO BE THERE! he was in tampa or something. So then my friend calls me and asks me what the deal is and i call Al to find out. Al says hes not going to the woodland hills spot... what the hell. So then i give my friend the number to Al's cell. he calls Al and asks him for directions. Then Al gives him attitude and says "What, cant you find the tampa hilton {or whatever hotel he was at} by yourself? ****." So then i have to go online and look up the directions to the hotel to relay it to my friend. what the hell kinda service is that? Al is a ***** to everyone. customer or not.

Ok the last time I got a flash one of my vac lines came off the fuel pressure regulator a caused the car to run lean. Al added fuel then we figured out the problem. I didn't notice on my wideband at the time that the car was running really rich.

To make a long story short. Al said that he would reflash it for free the next time I saw him or I could mail him my ECU for a mail flash, so he indefenatly stands behind his product.

exactly. he was talking about how smooth the powerband was, but he said the peak hp didnt mean anything. When iits at 240 it DOES mean something to me!

just wait till i post the charts and the facts will be right in ur face. Camera battery is charging..

have had 2 flashes 1 from works and 1 custom tune from Al.. i dyno'd before with the works flash and it was horrible power band. after Al retunned it it was smoother...

now when i tunned it he said it felt like 285 to the wheel i was no where near there i got 264 my car really didnt feel any faster. in fact the #'s where the same as the works flash just smoother.. i more and more feel that flash suck a$$.
i am getting a EMS soon. im installing the wide band Uego guage soon so i will know the A/R's soon. ill keep you posted... i can agree on a few things he does
as far as complain about other's peeps car's and he only makes 5 adjustment at the most on a custome tune that i have seen.. im kinda of in the grey i dont feel i got a great flash, but he did make my power band smooth... .. i feel i wasted 1000 or so dollars on flashes...

well EMS here i come

I feel the same way (read my rant on page 2). According to Al he runs the 91 octane tunes this rich cause its the best way to prevent detonation. I understand the physics behind it but just dont believe it has to be this rich. Any tuners who have tuned on 91 care to chime in.
Is 11.0:1 the only safe way to tune for 91octane?

wow... what a bad experience you had XRS-Lift. I think you have a right to be unhappy and get your money back. Unless you can sell the tune to someone and Al agrees to not charge them. That would settle enough for me.

The best evo's i've seen under 350whp have used the SAFC's to tune bigger injectors in. The car loves 660's higher boost and the AFC's tuning. Past that the AEM is the way to go. Although it runs you quite a bit it gives you so much that no other can offer. Also they are producing some serious numbers all with the AEM. I know your selling your car but i hope it isn't due to this experience. Don't let one vendor get you down. This is a great Forum and things get resolved in cases like this. Also you can use it to judge your next steps more successfully.

Good luck on your future endeavors and hope this issue gets resolved for you. It's a shame what some vendors do to one person but not to others. All customers need to be treated highly as they are the ones paying for it. It further amazes me that Al has not came in to resolve this yet.

He only loaded a tune from someones car with similar mods, then logged timing, then saw timing was being pulled, then backed off the timing settings a bit, then ran again, then again, then again, then made a few more timing changes, then made a few "heatsoaked" runs anthen left it alone since it didn't try and pull any timing. Grand total amount of time he spent was about an hour.

I think Shiv and the guys at WORKS are the only guys on this forum that tune specifically for 91 octane. But there is no way in Hell that Shiv is going to respond to this thread. I would ask the question in the Vishnu or WORKS Forum.
