The AEM issue is irrelevant. This is about Al's flash and nothing more. I doubt Al could run the extensive mods he has on a flash. That is where a standalone is a necessity, no matter what brand or what tuner.

ok it's time for me to chime in. I'm not, by any means, a professional. I'm just putting all the facts on the table. these are all good arguements, but xrs: you still haven't answered al about having the car checked out for malfunctions ex: mbc, bov, vacuum leeks. etc. etc.... have all this check'd out by a well trained tech or someone with lots of knowledge of turbo cars. then if everything stays them same. you can check into the tune. otherwise your wasting your time on here ranting and raving about something when some very good factors have not been checked out.

get it checked out if it stays the same then you can come on here a cry a little more for everyone. just don't jump the gun on something that your not completely knowledgeable about. there's to many factors in this situation that can cause problems. take your time check everthing over good, and the go from there.

-Chad-

P.S. just because a couple of people have had bad experiences doesn't mean the product is bad. I think a few mess-ups out of 740 Is verrrryyyy good. I bet you can go to Mc Donalds and 5 out of 10 orders will be messed up. and all there doing is makeing hamburgers and french fries, there not tunning ecu's. So, don't judge a product just because one unprofessional person comes on here crying. I'll be sure to keep al in mind once I get my intake and exhaust on my evo.

You are correct.

My reflash is designed for a guy who uses the car as a daily driver and wants to retain 100% stock like driveability and function with zero hassels - plug and play - forget about it - while gaining 90% of the available extra power that a tune can get you

A stand alone is great for making 659 whp as in my case - however - it has its own shortcommings - extra cost - more complex tuning and fine tuning adjustments on a frequent basis - loss of stock like driveability and fucntion

I use a stand alone on my evo as it is a race car and my goal is to obtain maximum possible power at the expense of idel - driveability and function and I wind up tuning it after each and every pass I make down the track

I did make some serious power on my car with the reflash before - we made a max of 557 whp and with the Buschur Flash we made over 500 whp with the Br500

Hey for the most part the flash or any flash will only help your car marginally at best on 91 oct. Yeah 241 whp is not good but is this the norm. I hope not maybe a slight aberation. Custom tuning is where it is at and Al is not the worst tuner out there. Tuning is not always about making the most peak power sometimes just making a knock prone EVO run smooth is a good tune. Shiv experienced a knock prone Evo when I arrived at his shop and although I did not get the peak #s that Smoggy and others might have gotten he did make my car significantly faster and smooth. Maybe your car needs to make a trip to Pleasing-tune or Shiville because Al is not going to help you at this point in the game.

Two week Warranty? is this the ECU tuning standard? This is why I never pay cash and use my Visa for automotive services. I also check out all shops with BBB.org before handing over my Hard earned money. Visa will reverse the charge and you never have to phone and beg for your money back. Nothing against this Vendor, I do not know him. I just think Two weeks is not a very good Warranty.

We give a two week warranty while other vendors who do tuning give no warranty

I figure a full two weeks of driving is a fair time frame to use the product and decide if you like it or if you want to return it

I guess when you bad mouth someone on other forums, the sh*t comes back to bite you in the **** ten times worse. This is not the first time I have heard of this type of complaint against this product.

I just hope that all the posts in here help someone decide to do their research on what works and what is just not worth looking at. I suggest for newbies to read and learn and decide what will work for them.

Xrs-lift good luck w/ getting your money back. Just think of it as lesson well learned for yourself and others.

Gnulooks, You happy with you tuner. I am. I hear he is also a fashion consultant and a future TV star. I need a Prada sticker for my Evo.I hear they are good for 20whp guaranteed. I think that(prada sticker=20whp) is a better gamble than a guaranteed Dynotrash. JKJK

My car did 236whp stock at the local dynoshop that has the same type of dyno as xs. 220- 240 is what stock evos seem to run on these dynos.

I knew Al was gonna stiff me out of my money ever since the dyno meet. I atleast expected him to follow through with his BS re-sell option and let me get my money back from someone else. But he stiffed me there too. I didn't post this to get anything out of it. i didnt post here thinking dynotrash was going to give my money back. I posted here so other evo owners dont have to go through what I did and know about Al's shady shop before they bend over for him. You think hes nice on the phone when u have a problem? Why dont you tell him you want to take him up on his so called "guarantee" and see how helpfull he is then.

By the way for those of you telling me i need to check my car before i make these posts. I already mentioned from the start the car was running significantly better right after i had Al remove his trash from my car and even better when i removed the fuel pump which was no longer necessary. The car holds boost just fine now and my 1/4 mile et's have improved much as well.
