Pros and Cons of going E85

My car idles in open loop, so I would for sure see an issue arising with fueling if an injector started clogging..

^^^ lol

Honestly its just like anything you do mods to. The pro's are obvious and the cons are just like any other mod....you have to take care of it and not abuse it

Plus the other down sides that seem to be random and inconsistent, which sometimes result in damaged engines.
It's unpredictable, so use at your own risk.

I am strongly considering running e85 since I saw an e85 pump last weekend. How much extra from a tuner to run 93 and e85 map?

Are you referring to gunk build up? Black slime?

I think he's talking about ethanol percentages and the possibility of the percentages changing with the seasons or from one station to another.

Yes to both. They are risk factors that I'm not comfortable with.

I considered and still contemplated this… I have a really GOOD tune shop about 3 1/2 hours away, (RS Motors in Minnesota) but being I store my car in the winter being (I'm in Minnesota)… I'm not comfortable with the storage issues… even tho I'd dual map the car to run pump gas, and store it with pump gas… I still don't think I'd run the car enough to go through full tanks of e85, and then I worry about mixing the e85 and pump gas. I also don't have a lot of e85 stations around my area, we don't even have 93 pump gas in my area, so I run 91 consistently.

I own a handful of cars, and the Evo isn't my DD… I'm running moderate modifications and at a simple 300hp the car is plenty fast and quick for my tastes.

That's how I see it. I'm now around 370whp on 91 without stress of finding a station. Who really nerds more than that? LOL. I don't.

I was gonna go flex fuel until I found out it is $1000 for the kit + tune. F that. LOL

With how clean and low mileage my Evo is… I'd just assume to keep it that way, and not compromise it… I have other cars for HP if need be….

You can learn about the black substance here on this page. The mystery was solved IMO
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/e8...e-85-a-11.html

Its called PIB & is in the gasoline portion of E85

Celebrating my 7th year running E85 & have really enjoyed it. Its not just about making more power, the 4G63 just runs smoother & cooler on the juice

I was simply trying to interpret the quote in question. I'm a fan of e85 myself, I have 2 cars running on it.
