Press the red record button and you are logging. Press it again and you are done.

I do TWO 3rd gear logs per day. One on the on ramp to the freeway on my way to work and one on the on ramp from work. Imagine what a PITA that would be if I had to carry a lap top with me EVERY DAY.

Do you have your lap top in the car every day? Would you leave your lap top in the car like I leave my LM-1 every day?

All I am saying that it is a hassle to log with the Zeitronix. That is all.

You must have a sh!tty tune if you have to log it everyday and make sure your engine isn't gonna go.

Thats why you need a knock buffer or some type of circuit to process the voltage.

Yes, you were talking about is knock correction and timing. DO you even know how a knock sensor works???

It's just a microphone, it listens to the motor. When there is knock or det., there is a spike in the noise. This is knock.

The stuff your talking about is what the ECU does when it sees that spike. The ECU can see the spike because it doesn't just read voltage. It processes the voltage (just like the knock buffer and ECU+), so it can see these spikes. Then it changes timing using knock correction.

If you dont understand, go read a book.
Are you in high school or something? Why don't you try to learn stuff from other people when they post.

I have an Engineering degree and have had experience tuning and logging from stock ECUs for years. I think you may need to read a book, especially on the working of a stock ECU and knock retard. Because obviously you have no clue what I am referring to.

I'm done wasting my time answering your posts.

Logging knock voltage spike outside of background is a very rudamentary way of monitoring the signal. In reality, the stock ECUs (which have some of the most sophisticated knock detection mechanisms in existance) perform a lot of conditioning on the signal, run them through an FF Transform, and other algorithms to detect knock. Looking at amplitude is just one piece of the puzzle, and works marginally, at best. There's more to a signal than amplitude variances (what is commonly referred to as a 'spike' in the voltage).

Thank you. I was tired of trying to talk to him.

OK, thats why Al logs knock using his Innovate stuff and the voltage.
Also, Shiv logs knock using his knock buffer and an XEDE.

If the two top tuners can log knock doing it that way, then so can I.

Also, I didnt say the signal is just amplified, its processed (conditioned and such just like the stock ECU does). I know just amplifiying the signal is only one piece of the puzzle.

ALso, I know what knock retard is.

And to GST, Im a lot older then you think, a S/N means nothing.

Zeitronix, there are a stack of broken and malfunctioned Innovate LM1's at the local dyno.

The same dyno shop IS AN INNOVATE DEALER and advises not to waste your money on them as they are not taking back these defective crap units.

Vijay is correct. I log knock sensor NOISE by tapping a trace on a LinkElectrosystems Knocklink. On a most recent pass The knocklink was in the red most of the run indicating "knock" as displayed.

According to the Palmlogger there was ZERO timing hold or retard based on comparison to the ignition timing load cells I programmed...

Logged "knock", ECU saw no knock.

No I do not have a ****ty tune. My AFR is at 10.9-11.2 across the board. And my car boosts to 21-22 psi depending on weather conditions. I like to learn and experiment a lot. That is why I got an AFR unit that makes it easy to log. And despite the two logs that I do per day my car still get 22 mpg. Please do not jump to conclusions about the state of my car's tune.

Sorry dude, but you sell the Zeitronix and you have a vested interest in selling them and that is why you hype them. Both innovate and Zeitronix are great units. I am not saying that the Zeitronix is a bad unit. It is a great unit. But if you want to log daily, then it is a PITA to have a lap top in the car.

If Zeitronix solves this problem by allowing their device to log, then I will sell my innovate and get won.

he use's ZT-2 every day in his car, and he does not go out telling people to buy it too. You can see in his sig what he has done for the Evolution community. Everyone has a choice of what to use: Zt-2 or innovate. We can only put our feedback on it. We all are on the same side to get things better for each other, not to prove who is better.

I think he's told people to buy it about 5 times in this thread alone.

Zeitronix, Innovate, FJO, PLX, TechEdge, et al... they all have their pros and cons. There are plenty of threads about widebands on this site and even more information is available elsewhere. There is really nothing that is application-specific to the ECU Flash that would determine which wideband to get - until we see what the integration with the Innovate product line will entail.

Not to mention coding is modular, so adding functionality for widebands in the logging software that may or may not ever materialize is likley just a factor of adding either a simple addon, or a definition for it..

It will be interesting as more is known about the firmware in the stock ECU, there are several 5v inputs that are currently unused... Opens the door to some interesting possibilities once the roms are completely reverse engineered and the code itself is able to be modified.

In this thread alone you say, How come i missed it all five times. Now people should do what they are told, right

Why do you have two screen names?

ScrappyJack and Jack@Evostore?

That is against evolutionm.net policy and borderline "shady" since YOU are an Innovate, PLX and FJO dealer for Titan/Evostore. Why you post under two screen names is beyond me.

I bought a Zeitronix at RETAIL PRICE, I am not sponsored, nor ever was, never recieved anything for free from them, unlike warrtalon for example.

I contacted them because I was so impressed with the product that I just had to become one of 3 authorized dealers in the U.S.

If I saw a better product out there for the money, that is what I would recommend because that is how we do things.

The point is that a laptop is needed to reflash ECUflash.

The same laptop will be used to datalog.

When the car is tuned, you do not need the laptop for the ECUflash any longer, right?

When the car is tuned, you do not need the laptop for zeitronix logging either because your tune does not change on its own.

Zeitronix has live display of EGT, AFR, Boost on the LCD with peak hold boost and EGT buttons. There is no need to datalog, unless you are tuned on the edge of maximum performance and want to be able to make some additional logs while racing.
