Data Log Lab question

I'm fixing to purchase this and I just want to be sure I get the right stuff and that I can use it.

purchase from: Flying Miata
version: other ECU's 39.95

What specifically is needed to feed Evoscan logs into this program (ver. .98, although I could go back to .97). What setup is required. I did some searching and noticed that evo4mad said he was going to include a definition with future releases - did this happen?

Thank you for your answers!

He updates the columns in his app every so often, so the definitions need to be updated every so often. I have been including working mitsulogger definitions for dataloglab in Mitsulogger, and Evo4Mad has been posting or updating user contributed definitions on the website. I have to assume he'll have something in his new version.

At one point I made an attempt to keep my column names the same as Evoscan's in an attempt to get a common definition file out there to be included with data log lab itself. But if you didn't get a current definition, ask him, or one of the members for one that works with any missing items you need.

I found every time I update mitsulogger, I add a few new ones to my definition file because of new features or new requestID's.

In the future I plan on creating a generator tool built into mitsulogger that will take my XML file for requestID's and generate the definition file for Data Log Lab, but I don't know how others plan on doing it.

i was thinking i could just make my own power graph program. I plotted a power curve in excel, so i just don't see the need to spend $40 for power graphing, because thats all i use in DLL.

DLL is a great visual tool.. Not just for plotting power graphs, but for easily visualizing relevent data..

How you choose to analyze your data is your own choice, but its really more than just a software dyno..

I'm just wanting something that puts my low reading items at the bottom of a graph (knock sum, AFR, etc) while still having the rpm etc up top and properly scaled. The Data Log graphs look like what I want to see. The new graphing feature in .98 is close but I've found it still mixes up data and is hard to read. It is nice that you can hover over a point and get the relevant data but looking at the overall graph is still cumbersone and the graph screen is not large enough and cannot be resized. I've had zero luck doing what I want to do in Excel but then I'm no excel guru nor do I really care to go through that every time I want to plot a graph.

That is why it's worth 40 bucks!! the ability to pick out a timestamp based on the graph and see all data at that time is as good as it gets, but I'm a rookie still so

Any chance you could share how you set up the power graph in Excel using EvoScan/Mitsulogger logs? I just need the power graph function now to check what my power curve looks like with different maps that I'm testing.

I'm at work but heres the equations i used.

Power = F*v
Torque = Power * 5252 / rpm

and for those who dont remember physics 101
F=ma
a = dv/dt

v is calculated from rpm, gearing and wheel diameter
google will give you all the conversion factors.

the only caveat is smoothing. you need to smooth out the rpm curve using either moving average or curve fit - if you dont the instantaneous velocity is erratic causing acceleration to look even more erratic, and you get a crazy looking power curve. DLL also smooths this out. Set the smoothing on DLL to 2 and you will see what your power curve really looks like from a log. =D
